I'm about to purchace the 2.5" Flowmaster with dual resonators from TT. I'm considering getting a CAT delete but I can't find anything on their manual that says vehicles must have a CAT. Will I fail inspection for not having one?

The requirement in Germany is that cars manufactured after '91 need to have Cat-converters... But I'm assuming that if your car came with one, it will probably have to be there to pass inspection.

If you're not willing to take the risk that they're going to fail you for it, wait until you pass inspection this year, then take it off. that way you have a whole year before you have to worry about it.

The problem is, I need a new exhaust to pass inspection! My Corrado is a 91, so I guess it will need a CAT. I just didn't want to shell out ~$300 for a new CAT from TT. I might try to find a cheaper universal 2.5" CAT and have Auspuff Stein weld it in for me.

Ebay has tons of CATS on there and they are hella cheaper than the TT version. And yes, they can fail you without the cat. Its a serious thing here in Germany.

Well, if you're talking about a Cat delete, that assumes that you already have one.... Is your cat no good?

Sorry. I didnt eplain myself correct.

I have the TT cat and its great. I love the sound and it fit well.

During my research, I saw hundreds of cats on ebay starting from $20.

Sometimes I wonder how an ebay cat wouldhave worked out for me.

As for the Cat during inspection, the inspector can fail you for having an aftermarket cat or test pipe. I have not heard of them doing this but they can. I dont know what the best solution is.

But if I wanted to run a test pipe, I would buy a cheap cat and remove the guts and then put it on the car....but I am not sure if you will throw a cel. I would use the cat because of the shape apper to have a CAT.

I would just gut the cat and throw some spacers on the O2 sensor to stop it from throwing a CEL. I have a 3.5 incher w/ no cat on mine and didn't fail for not having cats. I guess it all depends on who you have and how they feel that day. We all know how f'd inpections are...
