Deb can't handle isht like this and doesn't let things go.

That was my first thought, and the impression they wanted to give, but they tied it back in with Lewis closing the credit card and Dexter going to the airport (the scene with the airport sign was shown in that opening segment, and later on).

It's not the first time they've shown something, and then gone back "xx hours earlier."

they did that on purpose. initially it looks like its a daydream, but it was just a flashforward to a scene that plays out later on when Dexter is on his way to kill the Ukranian killer at the airport. thought it was clever.... sorta how they do it on Breaking Bad a lot of times.

Yep. I was expecting a brilliant episode, and instead I got Deb deciding to babysit Dex, since that's how you cure that pesky serial killer illness.

This is what I expect, is this slow building story and then the fun starts!

I am really surprised with all the love this season is getting so far, because I freaking hate it. Deb was way too quick to accept who Dexter really is and help him cover up, and now she's going to spend the whole season as his sponsor for "Serial Killers Anonymous"? Things need to improve, and fast.

Deb is way out of character this season, but accepting Dex at least lets the season move forward.

Lewis dead (bye!!) by gunshot with blood splatter in Dexter's boat, right after getting fired and broken up with due to Dexter's efforts. I foresee a twist where Dexter is arrested for murder, but ironically not for one he actually committed.

Overall it was a good, tense episode, and it feels like things are picking up. It always takes a few episodes to get going. Even the best season ev4r (#4) had a really terrible first two episodes, and even some filler storylines after that (annoying neighbor, Rita finding out Dexter still had the apartment, etc.). I'm looking forward to the way things are shaping up, especially now that Deb's giving Dexter the space he needs, even if she's thoroughly disgusted by who he really is.

I like how they are going to have to make Deb realize that her success has been / will be on Dexter's "Lizard Brain" but the boat should make for some interesting twists for sure.

she covered up another serial killers doings...it was him seeing that in her and her seeing the killer in him.

i believe she may come back around...we will see.

I think there will definitely be a change in Dexter's ritual.
He recognized, based on Deb finding him, LaGuerta finding the blood slide, that he has to change and move on. Hence burning his old slides.

Unfortunately...if Dex turns into "just another killer", it might take away from his show. I do like the increase if main opponents to him, between the Ukranians, the serial killers ex...
