It is my wife's Cabrio.... of course there are no complaints till it gets so bad she is concerned about driving it. So I got the car.... When I turn the wheel to the right even a little, I get a thumping noise. I got out and looked at the tires, time to replace anyway.... the inside of the tire was cupped... so I thought, that is it.... sounds exactly like a cupped tire. Well today I replaced the tires and it is still there.... not as bad so I am thinking that the problem cupped the tire because the other side was fine. It does not do it to the left. Going straight everything is perfect, no vibration, no pull. Just a little turn to the right you start to get this thumping noise. It gets more pronounced the harder you turn. There is really no vibration in the steering but you can feel the thumping in the steering and in the gear case (manual). It does not sound like a bearing hum, or something metal..... just like the tires are cupped and slapping the pavement at a constant rate for a given speed. The only other thing I know is that the rim on the front took a hit that left a mark on it. 01 Cabrio with everything stock.... Some help would be appreciated...

Check you tie rods (especially the inners) for play/wear.
