If you've already got the tranny apart your best bet is to just change everything, nothing sucks more than changing a clutch and then having something else in there blow. I'd do clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing.

So my girlfriends car took a **** i thought it was just the cable but the cable is fine. So without and knowedge of vws or a manual i started tearing into it. I got to the lever that the cable hooks to and pulled on her a few times without any resistance i spoke with a mechanic buddy who seems to think its my pressure plate. After removing the transmission and clutch from i can tell the clutch seemed fine it seemed more like there wasnt anything like a spring to disengauge the clutch. I hope this makes sense and hopefully someone can help cause im up **** creek without a paddle and the doesnt seem to be too much info out there so anything will help!
Thanks

Normal looks like this..........
A bit of clarification please, does the clutch not dis-engage or is it never engaged?

pop off the green cap on the end where the to bearing goes. The arm that pushes on the bearing and rod, may very well be cracked on the splines. It may be hard to notice unless there is a load on it, or pull it out and study it. Happened once, and i learned to chk it everytime now.
