Thread: The minimum wage high school build

Hey guys this is my way of archiving the life of my first car so bare with me here and leave some input.

Bought an 2003 gti 1.8t with a lot of miles but in great shape

With miles, comes maintenance. My father and I replaces some sensors, fixed some vacuum leaks, plugs, coilpacks, oil, coolant, ect.. With our work I passed emissions which was a reason for the owner selling it, and got the cel to turn off
    My dads 99 roadster

Next thing to come was some movements in bad direction happened
little bit of tint, black emblems, debadge. I though it was looking kinda good now

I refurbished the headlamps and boy do these look good for OEM

    wheels are black for WINTERxMODE

Then came a little step in my future stance game, some clean audi fat fives

So this is happening, very exited with some progress

Then I got the hatch done!

    Thats it for now

    car looks clean.
maybe consider going back to chrome badges, might look better with your new wheels.

My original plan with the fat fives was a gloss white powder coat, call me crazy but I like the crazy contrast off all black and bright white wheels. I'm not set on it though, either that or polish them very well, which will look a lot more OEM+ which I like but wont be very different I guess .

Those are flat fives not fat fives, but still not to bad of a start buddy, Contrast is never a bad thing ton of people have white wheels on black cars and it typically look good. Go for it. Just make sure to go low

Put badges back to stock, polish the fat fives, and ditch the tint. Just my $.02.

You've got a good base to start with

Black badges look like crap IMO. Shave them or leave them stock.

Agreed about the badges. If you coat the wheels or not, they'll look better chrome IMO

Return your badges back to stock. I say do a full polished finish on your fat fives. It takes some effort it will look great in the long run.

Just leave it the way it is with the fat fives and call it a day, save the money you would have spent on cheap ebay crap and save yourself the negative comments on everything you put on it. when all else fails just leave it stock.

After winter I will slam it. First I need to buy snow tires and roof racks, necessities for an ski bum

How low can you go in a Colorado winter with snow tires. Is there any difference between studded and non studded snow tires?

I really like your car but keeping the badges chrome would of went better with the scheme.

Hey Joltz, i had black bbs RC's on it before thats why the badge and lights are blacked, gotta get stock back

I Went black with the intent of "blacking out" the car I still think it looks good but just isn't as clean and oem as chrome. My winter wheels are black long beaches so I'll stick with the black badges till summertime

So back to monster truck status and winter wheels with some nice blizzaks all around
