FS or FT. Looking to swap for a 330i, and willing to add some cash (<$2k) for a good deal.
The Good ...
80k Just done.
OEM blacked out grill
Euro rubs
New tires (Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum) installed around 70k (last summer).
Volx Tuning glass lense eCodes (Glass will stay pretty longer
)
Vogtland coilovers
Gonzo tuned chip (Good mid range torque. Great for highway passing.)
Custom SRI w/ K&N
Neuspeed catback exhaust
Techtonics Tuning downpipe & 200 cell cat
Extras that I'll throw in ...
- Original OEM Suspension
- Original OEM downpipe + exhaust
- Original OEM headlights
- Stubby antenna
- Bentley's Repair Manual (Should be included with every car's manual
)
- VSS (Bought it to fix Speedometer issues, but a simple reseed appears to be all that was needed)
- The tails listed in the pix. These won't pass inspection. So pass inspection with the stock tails, and then put these back on.
I'm the third owner, and its been great as my daily driver for the past few years. Just looking to bump up to a 330i.
Recently replaced the trunk latch & arm rest latch. Oil was just changed & 80k servicing done.
THERE'S NOTHING YOU NEED TO DO TO THIS CAR!
Just to clarify, the brake indicator is on only because I'm running brakes w/o sensors, and I didn't get the code deleted.
***NOTE*** Stock radio will be put back in for the sale. This radio is a POS.

That's silly
I've maintained this car very well. Since I've had this car it's received regular (3-5k) service with Mobile 1 and the tires were just replaced ~70k. 76k for a 2003 GLI is not bad at all (<9k per year), and there's a whole lot of life left in this car. I'm just getting a little bored and would like move to a different drivetrain (AWD or RWD) rather than drop money on a turbo.
Neither the VSS nor the trunk latch parts were that costly to obtain, and as mentioned in my initial post I already have the parts, just haven't had to the time.
The only issue with the tail light is that I put the wrong bulb (don't trust Autozone fitment guides) in one of the tails and it melted the red inner plastic, so they won't pass inspection. I've since had Garnet VW check out the car to make sure that's all the issue was. However, I left the tails on (with new, correct bulbs) because no one's stopped me, and I like the look of my those tails on my car. I have stock tails, and will put them on before selling so it'll pass inspection.
The armrest latch is a common issue and I haven't given it that much attention, since it doesn't bother me. Again, it will all be made right before any sale.
Also, how do you go from $9g minus a few hrs of work for normal wear/tear and arrive at $3g?
I just wanted to be completely honest when I listed all the bad, but it will all be fixed before any sort of deal is made and likely before any test drives. I'm not into passing off a busted car. I've really enjoyed this car, and want whomever has it after me to enjoy it as well.
Anyways, thanks for the free bump...

Good luck with sale. Sararuth4 has SEVEN posts on Vortex, I wouldn't take her lowball offer to offensively. Anyone who looks on Autotrader can see that you're in the right ballpark for a GLI.

BIG STATUS UPDATE: Ok, so not that big, but it's been a few days.
So, the reason I haven't been too responsive and stopped bumping the thread was due to the fact that my oil pan got eaten while going through a construction zone around town. F M L. However, I immediately pulled over once I knew what happened (within 1 block), and towed it to my mechanic. Few days later, not only was a new (polished and shiny) oil pan put on and my engine given a clean bill of health (thank you synthetic oil gods), but the car also got a few bits replaced (I had the parts, but not the time) and it also had the 80k checkup done.
tl;dr...
- New Polished & Shiny Oil pan
- Trunk Latch fixed
- Armrest latch fixed
- VSS reseeded (didn't replace, but reseeding has worked for the past few days. I'll include the VSS with purchase)
- 80k servicing done
Oh yeah, there were a bunch of people chirping about MOAR PIX!!! So today, I feed you baby birds. I just added a bunch of MOAR PIX!!! to the original post. Car is dirty, fut buck it.
ALSO, I have a gorgeous 330i picked out, so I need to sale before the opportunity passes.
PRICE IS NEGOTIABLE. Make me some offers!!!
I've already heard offers as low as $3k, let's try to keep it above $8k!
