Thread: Official FORMULA 1 GROSSER PREIS SANTANDER VON DEUTSCHLAND 2012

  1. 07-16-2012 12:04 PM #1
The 10th race of the season, and things are too tight at the top.

    Thoughts?

Yeah, I was thinking of asking if anyone missed the old configuration...

Grosjean has a 5 place penalty for changing transmission.

Would love to see them do 250+MPH on the old track layout!

Funny. That aerial picture of the track must invoke sentimental feelings in all of us. I remember racing the old layout in video games. Very similar to Monza...
I'm thinking they shortened it due to spectators and the cars coming around more often. I'm sure a Bernie thing since i remember him suggesting that about Spa already....

That said, i hope Kimi does it. Who remembers him thrashing around here a few years back in the Macca chasing Schumi?????......until his rear wing completely fell off and he had a big crash? Dohhhhh!

That's pretty much it. Rubens won from 18th place in a race that had weather all over the map. That, and all the passes happened in the forest, so hardly anyone that was at the race saw them.

And Bernie better not f*ck w/ Spa!

The detection point, measuring whether or not a car is within one second of that in front, will be placed on the exit of Turn 4, with activation coming 260 metres later to allow for use though the long Parabolika which leads the field to the hairpin of Turn 6.

Not only has DRS not yet been used at Hockenheim, but fellow 2011 newcomer Pirelli is also visiting the Heidelberg venue for the first time. KERS will make a debut at the track too, as the teams had a pact in place not to use the system two years ago.
This will probably make the race boring and ruin the outcome..., but weather will be a factor as well.

That hat looks entirely too big for him. And what's with the flat bills? Every time Alonso is on the podium and given a hat with the bill bent he bends is back to flatten out, and I die a little inside.

You leave Alonso alone, Kimi does it too. I can't blame them for not liking the cooter bend on their bill.

I would wear my hat that way as well, cause it's stylish today. My 15 year old daughter told me, though: "NO, dad"!

This will be tough to call. Pirelli's haven't been run at Hockenheim yet. Two wet practices. Lotus has a grid penalty for Grosjean and their big updates were just being tested in this weeks practice and are not set to run Sunday.

    Vettel
    Alonso
    Perez

Lotus has the Super DRS this weekend...

Another wet weekend means another random winner....

A better question is why is he now fat and working the course from behind the fence?

Maldonado on top of the 2nd practice session. This session was wet and the fastest times were about 10 seconds slower than the first session.

I was really pulling for Schu and Vettel to line-up 1-2 in Germany; that would have been tremendous

Regardless, good session and setting up for a good race with Alonso, Vettel and Schumacher 1, 2, 3 respectively.

Vettel totally passed Jenson OFF the track. Stewarts better give Jenson 2nd.

Jenson knows it. Vettel knows it. The cameras show he had all four wheels off the track for the pass. If Jenson doesn't get 2nd I'll be shocked.

Jenson such a classy guy on the podium smiling and just saying it was a great race and he won't comment.

Sebastian explaining to Jenson how he had to pass him illegally outside the track to get 2nd. And Jenson, thinking, yup, we'll see what the stewarts say...

    Great racing, lots of action.

It will be interesting to see what the stewards rule on Vettel's pass. I can see it going either way. Personally I think Button has a case.

I just can't imagine they'll penalize Vettel at his home grand prix.

I also read that the FIA was investigating Red Bull's engine mapping for irregularities. Not sure what will come of that?

Oh, I see the stewards cleared RB on the engine mapping thing pre race. Never mind my previous question.

So the rules are different if you're racing on your home turf. Sounds fair.

Overall a pretty interesting race and congrats to Alonso. Wish that the Kimster got better results as he was so quick during the dry portions of qualifying. As for that off-track pass, I agree that Jenson deserves P2. Like Brundle said at the very least, Seb will get penalized on the grid at Hungary.
