Yesterday we had some crazy rain, I was driving about 20 minutes down a flooded highway...

Water went up into the engine bay, also up the air box

My car wont start now, what are my options

Tried banging the gas tank while starting with a rubber hammer, battery start, it wants to start and has once but when I give her gas it chokes and dies.

    Help

If your engine turns over with the starter, it's probably an ignition problem. Water or excessive moisture may be causing your ignition system to short out. Take a hair dryer to it.

If water went up the airbox, it may have went into the cylinders. It can hydro-lock and bend the rods. Pull the spark plugs out and turn over the engine to see if water shoots out of the spark plug holes.

I dont understand what your trying to convey with that video.

Using the remote start only complicates the diagnosis.

fyi... this is auto trans section and since your having a engine no-start problem you might be better off asking this question in another section.

You might try unplugging connectors, especially the important ones like the coils and seeing if they are wet inside. Clean them out with compressed air to see if it helps.

I'm no mechanic, I assumed the vid would do more justice than a Forum Post. I'll try cleaning them out, the car has been toasting in the sun the last 3 days, hood opened up.

If it helps, I have gotten it started once, in park I reved it very slowly, over 2500 RPM it felt like water flooded over, instead of gas, choked it dead hasnt started since.

Thats about as well as I could explain it, If no further suggestions about self fixing, Should I attempt to buy a used 2L Auto, Since they are extremely cheap in my area, We have a VW junk Yard that has about 100 of these engines, but jeez changing all the oils, I might just get it towed to my shop.

The alternator, and battery and full exhaust needs to be done too, not sure whether to scrap it at this time, or to even waste my time repairing it.
