Hey all,
I have a friend who lives in PA and he wants to lower his B6 and wants to know if it will be ok in the snow. I live in TX so naturally that is not a concern for me as snow doesn't come to places that are hot as hell. I was just wondering if any of you northerners have any thoughts that I could pass on to him.
I was thinking some basic Eibach springs and a set of snow tires.
Thanks a lot.

I have H&R springs, they lowered me just shy of 2 inches. Makes the wheel gaps look much better and there is still clearance for snowy Ohio/Michigan winters. I also installed an aluminum skid plate, the stock plastic one takes a beating in the snow. check out dieselfreaks.com or just google Panzer skid plate

I coated all the threads with anti seise when I first installed them.
After 2 seasons they would spin freely.
Sadly I sold that car.

I leave mine the same height all year but when we get fresh, deep snow, I take my golf.
i'm not too low but don't want to deal with changing height. also, clean and anti-seize the threads every time you raise/lower your car and you'll be alright.
this:
also, the underbelly skid shields will tear off pretty easily.

try a skid plate from Dieselgeeks, the OE belly pans are $200 and the skid plates are only $250

he'll be fine. I'm on coilovers all year round in PA, didn't change the height, but put better tires on for winter conditions and the quattro does it's job regardless of height. it will be more of a challenge in deep snow cause you'll be plowing more than just skimming thru.

I have coil overs and love my A4, the ride is good & the only real issue I had in the snow is I didnt have an alignment done before winter. I was really far toe out & it was a little squirrelly in some deeper snow. I never really had any clearance issues either and we got some really deep snow this past year in Wisconsin. I am actually at my lowest during "winter mode"

huh, i never responded here; sorry fellas.
yes, they're oem b6 s4 wheels with spacers in 8/20mm, f/r.
... and those are the old conti extremecontact in 235/40-18. I now have the new extremecontact DWS' in 225/40-18 which are pretty dang good tires.
