Thread: max psi

  1. 07-17-2012 06:29 PM #1
i just finish my built r32 turbo, i have a stock bottom end and head, gt35 tial 38mm wg with a large blue sping, and a 50mm bov but im using a 9:1 headspacer so my question is it is safe to run that wg spring with out damage my engine? like at 15 psi? or do i need a smaller spring?

ps i do running intercooler too and 3" custom piping and 550 cc c2 software

15psi easy wouldnt do more also run an inline fuel pump. Also are you stock clutch still? And technically your not a built R32 turbo as the bottom end and head are stock. You are a bolt on set-up with a spacer still.

If you are running the OEM inlet plenum then you are pushing its limits of strength as the plastic can only take so much.
Running an EBC may allow you to explore the limits of the spring.

yes im running an inline fuel pump as well, i do running the stock plenum intake, and i do have a electronic boost controller as well, but what i do want to know is if the spring in the wg (large blue) is for a 15 psi, and i heard that is too much pressure for my bottom end, is that true or i should be ok, im not trying to do a big power just a lil fun in the safe side.

You may have to modify your crankcase breather system as it is restrictive in OEM form and FI can create quite a bit of crankcase pressure.

What did you do to your breather system? i just routed the pipe to a catch can that vents. Did you remove the stuff from the inside of the valve cover or something?

Hi, I am just new to this forum but have just done the same thing , mine is a Audi s3 on a 2000
I have fitted a 2007 r32 engine with a spacer plate( for time being )
    Gt3076 turbo with 1.06 housing
    630 cc injectors
    Rs4 maf
    Twin fuel pumps

I too was also wondering max boost , I have just lifted it up to 1 bar where I thing it will stay

Have you any pics of you build?

I would think that your injectors are going to be the bottleneck in the future but you should easily be able to run upto 15 psi but you should do logging to find the point where your injectors are maxed out. Im running 1000cc injectors to improve headroom. My build is in my signature..

The holder is still in place to create some baffling and im running to atmosphere but near the air intake filter so it can be reused.

    Steve , thanks
I have read through your build thread on a forum somewhere .. Not sure but is it on r32oc ?
Yours was one of the motors that made me loose the 1.8T !!

Injectors can be changed at a later date, no problem it was what I had for the 1.8t gt30 lump so I just picked up another 2

Your tt is looking good mate , a friend of mine has one of those newer style front bumpers on his 2000 s3 just due to fact that the intercooler is so big and it gets much better airflow

He wasn't too happy when someone on Audi-sport took a photo of it At inters this year and named it the "comical"
    One
I suppose they don't know that its just shy of 500 bhp!!

plans are ported head , pistons / rods and something like a gt35 or equivalent in the near future
