Thread: Passat Vs Jetta (No longer have any jettas)

  1. 07-18-2012 12:02 AM #1
    Hello,
So I have owned a couple jettas and one thing I didn't really like about them was the plastic peel on the interior.

Does that happen to the Passat as well?

    Thank You

    P.s. sorry for my english.

Yup, they're all like that. As far as jettas, passats and golfs. I hate that about them. I don't know if Vw ever thought of that issue.....

Just peel it off and use a light scotch brite scruff pad to make it smooth and shiny.
    NEK
    Guilty by association.

The "soft touch" plastic coating was intended to give a luxurious feel to the surfaces. It doesn't hold up all that well. If I were slightly more cynical, I'd say it's intended to make the interior look shabby after a few years, to make you want a new car without actual mechanical failure people could complain about.

Many people refinish/repaint the plastic. I simply replaced mine; It was $100 or so for the parts at the dealer, and if I'm gentle with it, the car will look good for another six or seven years.
