any feedback on popping out side mirrors

I've seen a couple of threads on this and it all seems to easy with little explanation. Anyone have any issues with breaking the tabs or mirrors themselves? Is there any trick to popping out the side mirrors with ease? I'm going to install blue heated blind spot mirrors tonight and wanted to hear a little feedback.

Don't pull from the 'length'. Pop them off by pulling them 'down'. There is less unsupported glass if you do it from top/bottom instead of left/right. You'll see it once you get it off. There's a good vid on youtube, and I think ECS as well.

I cracked one of my OEM mirrors when I did it from left to right Not a big deal since I'm never taking my blindsopt mirrors off, they've saved my ass more than once....

just be very care full i have the blue heated mirrors on mine. my drivers side came out no problem i ended up cracking my passenger side glass going in is a cake walk there are you tube videos and dyis on how to do this.. good luck man.

I work at VW and it seems after asking a couple of techs everyone does it a little differently. I've heard just prying with your hands top to bottom over side to side tension, another tech advised using a small pick and flashlight to pop one of the tabs from behind. Anyway, thanks for the input, I know there's a handful of people that have done this and was just looking for some feedback.

I just push on the lower right corner of the mirror all the way in, put a finger in the upper left corner between the mirror and the housing, then pull. It doesn't take a lot of force and it should pop out of the retaining ring. Also roll the window down to avoid chipping the window or the mirror.

It's worked for me several times, love my aspherical mirrors.

It's obvious the car has a huge blindspot but I feel the combined mirrors might complicate things?

I think they work well, I have been using the OEM ROW versions for 5+ years (MkV and MkVI). They come in handy when driving in traffic but it seems to be a bit more difficult to judge distance when reversing in a parking lot.

The mkv ones seemed to work better for some reason. I've had them on both cars and really don't notice much difference on the mk6, the mirrors don't really go out far enough to truly cover your blind spot, even with the aspherical mirrors. Kind of disappointing, but for non-blind spot views they work great.

I used a similar plastic pry tool to pop the mirrors out. Worked very well and was able to apply pressure right around where the clips are held.
