5k ftw, but i wouldnt do it to often on oem clutch. I would upgrade if your planning to be launching every second on your way to the store. I just got my UM flash. I launched it at 32rpm, this will explain<----- but it took off, grabbed and then went. I did it at 5k, perfect. Ask around from what i have been reading 5k is the magic number.

You talk about upgrading clutches but I read about FI cars with 600+ hp using oem clutches, even after trying aftermarket clutches.

Read what cts said about the clutch for the their stage 2 and 3 turbo kit that putting out 400-500whp. Ask them what happen to the clutch. Whoever is using oem clutch and putting about 600 is simply retarded. The clutch will be overworked and heated up. It just doesn't make sense using oem clutch with a car that make 600. Especially if your launching a car like that with that much power. But ask cts because they experimented with dsg and they laughed at that clutch when they were running stage 2-3.

I'll be questioning this.

Brian, feel free to ask questions...
There is no reason (so far) to change clutch plates on the DSG. We're holding 570+ ftlbs to the wheels.
Some cars over 2 years.

Thanks for getting to me. Now Are you sure. Because one of my buddy at Vw had to change the clutch and he's putting out 470ftlbs to the wheels. He drove it and it slipped from 1-2-3 and sometimes 4. And I was talking to the nice people at cts, and they had similar situation. How does your transmission manage to hold 570? Thats what I'm stuck on.

FT / LBS to the wheel is HP.. LB/FT is TQ...So which is it? So those who make upgraded DSG Clutch Packs are crazy? Or can they withstand 700+ LB/FT TQ?

There's a reason why they make upgraded clutch packs. I'm just trying to figure out how they managed to hold that power with oem clutch.because my friend had to replace his the moment he put in his stage 3 turbo from cts

Its because Jeff's software is the bisniss. That's why cars on his software can hold the power.
Yeah, that just happened.

Well, what's the one difference between Jeff's customers cars and other cars on different software?
Valid.

When you flash or update software it doesn't automatically increase the capabilities. So are you saying that if I drop just a bt in my r, dyno shows 600tq, I dont need an upgraded clutch I just need the software and the stock clutch will be able to hold it? Good deal, I'll save money that way then.

I didn't say that. Jeff's software raises the clamping pressure(among other things) for the clutches that allows them to hold the power.
You asked the question and I answered it. Whether or not you believe it is now up to you.
