Didn't really know where to post this and I'm really not trying to start a PS3 vs Xbox thing.....

So I've got both systems and have Netflix on both. The Xbox connects to Netflix without so much as a hiccup and works flawlessly most of the time. So the Xbox died (shocker) and I've switched to using the PS3 for Netflix. I'm usually lucky if it will load up Netflix and even luckier if it will actually let me get into a show/movie to watch. Even when loaded, it will routinely stop to rebuffer the show and the picture quality sucks for the first few minutes until the resolution fixes itself. It's not my internet connection because Netflix works fine on our computer, iPad, laptop, phones, etc. So I'm assuming it's the Sony network that is the issue??

Anyone? I figured this was the right spot since it's a gaming system

Netflix is fine for me....even used it today... could be your internet. Have you gone to network connections and testing it on your PS3? is it hardwired or wireless? how many people/things are using the internet while this is happening? If it's wireless, try making it a wired connection and see if it changes.

works flawlessly for me. Make sure you have a good wifi signal or wire it.

If you are using your PS3 on Wifi that's probably your problem.

My PS3 was near useless in wifi, I had to run a network cable to it to get a good network connection.

Yeah, I'm using it via wireless connection and not hard wired. I guess I'll try running a cable to it and see if that helps. Like I said though, I know it's not my connection because everything else works fine. When we are using it, there usually isn't anyone else on the internet.

    Thanks everyone!

I know this is late, but for everyone's reference... the PS3 cannot send out bluetooth signal to the controller and wifi at the same time. This is because the same interface board controls both functions and it can only do one or the other.

WHAT THIS MEANS IS, the PS3 bluetooth/wireless lan controller rapidly alternates the signal of both processes so you "seem" to be doing both at the same time but in actuality it is stuttering that wifi signal, so you will NEVER get great solid connection even when right next to the router.

do you have a source for this claim? that sounds a bit crazy.

    bt is 2400–2480 MHz
    wifi g is 2.4 GHz

    do you know 2400mhz = 2.4ghz?? (kind of like 2400mb = 2.4gb )

Wi-Fi is a wireless version of a common wired Ethernet network, and requires configuration to set up shared resources, transmit files, and to set up audio links (for example, headsets and hands-free devices). Wi-Fi uses the same radio frequencies as Bluetooth, but with higher power, resulting in higher bit rates and better range from the base station. The nearest equivalents in Bluetooth are the DUN profile, which allows devices to act as modem interfaces, and the PAN profile, which allows for ad-hoc networking.
Btw, this still can't prove azthegame comment right or wrong.

Actually it was good timing - I rearranged our living room this morning so that the TV/PS3 are now next to my internet connection. I plugged the cable directly into the PS3 and presto! My problems are solved! Everything works so MUCH better now - no lag, Netflix loads up and runs perfect, etc.

    Thanks everyone!

Sorry for the late reply, don't have this section bookmarked and just randomly checked it just now

My source is 2 different ones...

    1) i am a ps3 technician, have been working on them for 4 years now and have spent the last 2.5 doing board level repair and research.

    2) a good site for a wealth of information about the ps3 is located here ---> http://www.edepot.com/playstation3.html

That site is where i first got my start in digging deeper into how this system works so that i could build upon that knowledge and hone troubleshooting skills so that i can increase my value at work. It's good stuff.

Appreciate the reply, but it's a non issue anymore anyway. Traded my PS3 to someone for a gaming PC rig this week And if that wasn't awesome enough in and of itself, I also cracked open my 360 and finally fixed my "open tray" error - so I'm back in business with the old 360
