Thread: trip to dealership with problems

  1. 07-19-2012 09:07 PM #1
went to dealership today with my 07 gti. Car was sputtering missing at around 4k rpms. No code but something was definetely up. I told the service advisor that the car pulled hard but a high rpm it just skipped. 3 hours later after they fixed open recalls on stuff I did not know he told me I needed purge valve diverter valve and charcoal cannister. He said the purge valve was contaminated w charcoal, they want a grand to fix. So on the way home my car really started missing again and code0304 came up. I took off purge valve and it looked new. I saw no charcoal. you think they are trying to upsell me? I know its probably number 4 coil pack. If my dvalve was bad I would loose power and have no boost. But the car pulls hard. Also they said I needed 2 o2 sensors but no codes. How do they know that . Any mecanical advice. All ears here guys. Thanks a lot

Does not sound like the purge valve is causing your misfire, but it is probably acting up. Did they give you a print out of faults with your repair order? What you are saying does sound more like a coil. Just my thoughts
