I can do 800 km on a tank. Well technically it's two tanks and they hold 150 L total.

Range alone never impresses me. How big is the tank in the tdi? 15 gallons? Mrs McBanagons Civic could go 500 miles with a 15 gallon tank.

49mpg is the number that impresses me, and I'm impressed.

Granted my tank is larger, but in my B4 Passat wagon TDI, I've had TWO 1250 mile tanks, that's just a hair over 2,000 KM's on one tank of fuel. My average was 52 mpg both times. I just replaced my injection pump seals, so I'll be interested to see if those numbers go up.

Best i did on my 15.9 gallons with ventectomy was 813 miles right after i bought the car . .It was a boring ride for 2 weeks for sure of doing the speed limit granny driving in the right lane . So now i enjoy my constant 700 miles on 15.8+/- gallons of hooning fun . . There are several "mile club" threads on tdiclub.com 700,800 and 900 miles on a tank. . .But again , congrats. .

The gas light in my GTI comes on at about 420 every time, which is cooler than 700 miles.

The tank in your wagon is 24 gallons? Wow, that is expensive (~$100) to fill up, when you have to.

Yep. Capacity is really what determines how impressive it is. My wife got 525 miles on a tank in the Prius when the gas light came on. Topped it off with a whopping 9.5 gallons.

14.5 gal tank, i filled up with 14.221 so by hand calculation it ended up 49.3MPG

but you dont really get 900 unless you did it on your first tank. its very easily doable but you gotta get over 900 mile to claim you can.. i've had 900 range show up on my GOLF after driving 60 miles (it was from loveland pass down to denver, but unless i actually drive the distance that range number tends to jump around a bit) but i hope you get it.

You dont actually believe this, do you? I thought you were smarter than that. Out of all of the VWs and Audis Ive had, that distance to empty estimate has always been way off.

I filled up early out of convenience. I took it to 700 miles, but still had 200+ remaining to empty. I could have done it.

    No downhill trickery either.

The Passat tends to do a little better than the Golf/Jetta on the highway so it's no surprise.

John and Helen Taylor got 1626 miles on one tank of their 2012 Passat TDI.

    http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2012...en-passat-tdi/

I think gallons per year is a better number to work on.

Yeah, I actually do believe it. I took it to 700 miles on that tank with just under a quarter tank remaining. No pic, sorry. I do have a pic of 508 miles on the tank and 330 remaining - and it wasn't just highway driving.

The calculated MPG and distance to empty tends to be really close on the diesels. I haven't had a tank off by more than 1 mpg.

as TDI's got more complex and newer... the mileage per tank starts to go down.

i have done over 800/tank a number of times in both of my mk4 tdis. but i am no where near that in my b5.5v tdi.

most mk5/6 tdis have to push a bit to hit 700/tank.

hey i totally believe you and i know Passat can very easily do this, but im just saying you actually need to get over that 900 mile to really claim it thats all,
btw after few fill ups you'll learn that the last RANGE number once you get down to below 1/4 tank will drop alot faster then it does during first 3/4
exampe: on this 700 mile tank the last day i was driving to work, when my FUEL wanring went on at 50 mile RANGE, 3 miles later when i pulled in to work it said 35 MILES,
cmmn man i know you can do this, and come back and post a picture

I don't know about the diesels, but if I've been driving pretty conservatively (cruise set at 57 or 58, etc), mine will say 450 to empty when I fill it up, and as I said earlier, the gas light comes on right about 420 miles.
