Not only that, the Volvo doesn't even say CR-V on it anywhere!
There are no old Porsches - just new owners.

I know, I know. It was one of those things where the CRV's taillights looked really familiar, but I couldn't place it until I saw an XC60 and a CRV next to each other.

Joined Vortex a long time ago when I was thinking about a Mk 6 GTI but only recently discovered TCL, so I'm still sort of new. I really like the community of car folks on here but I guess it's gonna take awhile to get up to speed. Sorry for wasting your time.

LOL Well FYI the "blur the plates" thing was a joke.

Have fun getting caught up. Or maybe run for your life..

Pretty sure the CR-V was copied by Volvo back in the day. Who was first?

I see only similarities, but would never mistake one for the other. I know Honda had the tail lights straddling the C pillar since early generations of the CRV and before Volvo decided to drop the boxer shorts and go with the girdle design aimed at all those independant career women.

didnt volvo have it back in the early-mid 90's on their wagons though?

Volvo started the bumper to roof vertical tails mid 90s with the 850.

    99 cross country.

02 cross country- beginiing of the "designed" rear light design versus just the | design.

    04 V50.

And yes- to say the Honda CRV designers didn't not use the Volvo design as inspiration is ludicrous.
But this is normal- you take successful/popular designs and design cues and try and form your own version.
Volvo's designs were fairly popular in the 2000s and seen as better than mainstream, so it makes sense for designers to add some of those design cues to their mainstream offerings.

I've been saying that for well longer than 8 months; Volvo started the D-pillar taillights.

    Honda vs. Volvo

Kinda funny how they both evolved to include a 'bulge' at the bottom.
Why you wouldn’t (buy an Optima SX):

Because you have your eyes on the Frigidaire Limited Edition Camry that you saw last weekend at the neighborhood Autoplex

The 07-11 CR-V looked like an XC90 in the rear. Since there is no second-generation XC90, Honda instead chose to be..."inspired" by the XC60.

The second gen CRV taillight is very similar to the '99 XC 'lights, too.
