I think those metal impeller Water Pumps might be questionable. The reason I say this is because my timing belt recently got shredded from a failed water pump with metal Impeller. My pistons hit my valves and I needed a new head. It sucked bad since I was at just 48K miles on my Complete Timing belt kit when this happened. According to the shops I talked to the bearings for the metal impellers are too weak and fail. I'm not sure since I can't login to ECS right now to check but I believe I had the Geba Water pump. Either way, they put one with a plastic impeller in this time. YMMV

We have sold quite a large amount of these kits and never had any issues with any components in the kits. While its possible you had a bad pump. It could have been 1 out of 10,000 that went bad. You can't assume that just because yours went bad that they will ALL go bad.

Yeah, you're probably right. I just noticed I have oil in my coolant after getting my new head on!!! From what I've researched I appear to have a faulty oil cooler. My coolant looks brown instead of pink. So, I think what happened is the oil in my coolant system caused the metal impeller to fail. Not sure how long that was going on before my pump failed and belt seized? Either way, taking it back to the shop to have this looked at ASAP to hopefully avoid another failure!
