I read the power will be up to 240hp from the 225hp it currently has. Torque to remain the same. Only 15hp but at least it will have the same rating as the 2013 Porsche Cayenne diesel due out next month.

    Yep.

What I'd like to know is just what the extra 15 hp means.

Will the engine produce higher top speed? or quicker throttle response at similar rpms??

Will it be run at lower rpms while generating the same lb/ft of tourque?

Any physics major able to weigh in?

    Just curious...thoughts?

you won't notice an extra 15 hp at any speed since this thing weighs so much...

Agreed, you probably won't get out of a 2012 then drive a 2013 and say"OMG this thing is so much more powerful". The 2013 should, however, be a bit quicker if your into that kind of thing in an SUV. Porsche rates the Cayenne Diesel as 0-60mph in 7.2 sec whereas the current Touareg TDI is rated at 7.9 to 8.0 sec (depending on where you look). They are virtually identical comparing chassis/driveline and weight.

I agree with everybody, i had a Toyo Sequoia that had a small HP adjustment and you couldn't tell the difference. Co's think they have to tinker just to say they have made a change. Now if they added 50-75HP ,now we're talking. JP
