Thread: What is the name and where can I find this hose?

  1. 07-21-2012 06:21 AM #1
The hose got out from a holder and it got burnt so that there is a hole now in it.
I tried to look for this part but with no success.
Can anyone give me a name of this hose and maybe a part number?

    Car:
    Passat B6, ~04.2007
    2.0 FSI 110 KW

    EDIT:
    Attaching photos:

    Thanks for help.

    Yes of course !!

It's the flux regulator hose and the part number you can SEE clearly written in white letters
on the back of it.Can't you see it ?

    Next question ?

    Wth ??

    PHOTOS !!!

Well it looks like probably some short of recirculatory hose...

No need for a factory one if you can't get the part number.

Probably much cheaper to get a similar diameter generic OIL/FUEL resistant hose
and 2 worm clamps and you are good to go....

It's is not an OEM only part so no need to get it from the dealer.

    Thanks for quick reply.
I didn't take it out yet, I thought that I will fix it with tape until I get new part.

What can happen if I drive with perforated hose?

    Attached photos.

I can add that the air is sucked through the hole.

Well for one thing the fact it got melted shows 1)it was probably knocked out of place by something and came into contact with a hot object (which is something factory positioning would NOT permit...
and 2)If you use tape and don't look for the reason it came into contact, the tape will probably melt faster than the hose and you will be back to square one....

As to the side effects of running with a pierced hose....well it depends on its "previous" function. If it is a recirculation hose, you will probably have a vacuum leak in which case your engine will run like crap (maybe even stall) and your fuel efficiency will go down the drain.

IMO just get to a hardware store, ask for a similar diameter oil/fuel resistant hose (important) or maybe a so called car hose, and 2 clamps and replace it, while taking care to avoid excessive length or positioning that might cause it to come into contact with the hot surface again.

    Thanks for help.
One more thing, I see that hose is attached with one time use clamps so I don't want to take it out yet.
I found number on the hose: ECO<(Aav) 05-43-06.
I guess it is not a part number, but maybe there is something with dimensions in it? like 6mm diameter?

Don't be scared by "one time use" clamps...You can get new ones (to resuse "one time" ) anywhere...

Just remove and replace the hose.

You are making too much of a deal of it.It's just a pierced recirculation hose FFS.

It is not supplying a Nuclear Reactor....

    So... issue solved:-)

I got a genuine part from VW. Hose was in stock and the price was: 117DKK ~ = 20USD (so I guess its not bad).

In VW they named this part as a hose for venting fuel vapors.

    Thanks for help.
