So I just had an APR downpipe installed and software upgraded to stage 2 by APR themselves at Waterfest. After reflash, I see the check engine light come on. I tell the guy and he clears it and says all is fine and "it's just the cluster." The drive home was uneventful. After being home for a little, I decided to make sure I was on the right program. I wasn't and was on 91 instead of 93 so I switched. This morning, on the drive to work, the CEL comes on. What gives? I thought the flash is supposed to take care of that? What an inconvenience. Now I prob have to drive to an APR dealer an hour and a half away to get it checked out.

Happened the same with me, APR need to download stage II+....I tough that they learned the lesson by now. You need to drive to APR dealer waste time and $, they will pull out your ECU and fixed for you.

Oh, and they didn't pull my ECU (2012) again like I thought they would. They said that since I already had stage 1 software, they can just reflash through the port. I thought that was odd.

same thing happened to me on my drive back home from waterfest. check engine light went on and when i got hope i cleared it and then next day it came back on.
i got a stage 2 intake downpipe and flash done at the waterfest

Is not just a port reflesh, on a 2012 they NEED to pull the ECU.

Went to Autozone and had them scan the code - PO420, deficient catalyst or something like that. Definitely O2 sensor related.
Other than the CEL, I'm very impressed and happy with the DP and software upgrade. The car just jumps.

I emailed them through their website and also IM'ed one of their guys here on Vortex. There's a thread here that they advertised their Waterfest specials. This one. I just IM'ed the guy that posted it. I've been going back and forth with him. He asked for my VIN today so he can see what files were flashed.
Today, I received a response to the email through the website. It was from the guy I dealt with when I called to set up my Waterfest appointment. I basically told him the situation and he said that it was something that they will take care of. Hopefully, he's not just saying that. I'm calling my local APR dealer tomorrow and making an appointment for them to look at it.
When you contact them, just explain your situation. I think the key is to be respectful and not a douchebag so you don't turn them off.

Sounds like APR loaded the ECU with the "non test pipe file". This will cause the CEL to come on. If you bought the fault code erase option, it's easy to clear, but will come back on in a day or so. You need the "test pipe file", which turns off the CAT O2 sensor so to speak. If your state requires emission testing, the "test pipe file" will not pass because they will see that the sensor for CAT efficiency is turned off, or "not ready".

Yep, that's exactly what happened. They had the test pipe file disabled when I was flashed. I've also been told the same thing about emissions. My state does require emissions testing so I have to figure out a way to pass. My tech friend says that I only need one of the 2 checks to come back as "ready." Maybe if I install o2 sensor spacers?

does anyone know if these o2 sensor spacers will remove the cel. i dont want to go with the test file route because i want to pass emisions.
but, it this is the only way i was thinking what if i have the test file removed before i go for the sticker and clear the check engine light right before they take my car in. that would suck a bit because i would have to go to the apr dealer and put the file back in.

I just talked to the guy at my local APR dealer and he said that some venders do turn off the o2 sensor like mentioned above to remove the CEL. When tested, the sensor will send back an error of "not ready" or something like that which causes you to fail emissions. He said that this is not the case with APR and that the sensor remains on. He said that since our 12 CCs are new, he doesn't think we should have a problem with emissions. The CEL will be off and the sensor will still be on and will return a status of "ready." Hope he's right.

loaded stage 2+ and the cel is gone !!

I had the test pipe file added on Sat. They didn't pull the ECU, though. So far so good. No CEL.
