    i have a 86 vw scirocco and i just got it last week. but i still can not get it to run. Im not getting spark from the ignition coil to the distributor cap. i tried new plugs 3 coils, had the module checked, replaced the fuses. the only thing i haven't tried yet to do is the distributor. is there anyway someone could help me with this problem. the car does turn nicely just doesnt fire up

    check the connections at the hall sender. The Bentley should have a nice guide on testing that. You have 12v at the coil? All your grounds good?

    Are you getting 12V to the "15" terminal on the coil? It should be hot when the ignition key is on.

    You might consider running a ground wire from a clean bolt or stud on the cylinder head to the battery NEGATIVE. I had an '88 16V that was a dog to start until I did that. It would fire right up after that-- remove that wire, and the dog was back.
