I'm looking at buying a 2012 Eos. The dealer and I are a few hundred dollars off so I walked away. It's not the dollars, it's just me being rigid. I recognize it's laughable.

To help me relax and just go with it, please share that moment of truth when you knew you just had to have an Eos. I'm hoping to hear a little more inspiration (don't need much).

Do you plan on getting rid of your 2011 Golf, which is the same car as the Eos, with the exception of the retractible roof?

Regardless, I see that you are not an amateur when it comes to buying VW products.

A few years ago, I went into a VW dealer with the intent on purchasing an Eos. I happen to see a brand new CC on the lot and after being offered the car at such a fantastic deal, I drove off with it a couple of hours later.

But.....I still wanted an Eos. A few weeks later, I approached my sales rep and told him that I would consider another new car if the deal was right. He knew it would have to be an Eos.

I told him, to the penny, just exactly what I was willing to spend and what I absolutely had to have in the vehicle.

It took a few days, but eventually the Sales Manager agreed to sell me the right Eos at the right price.

Stick to your guns. It's okay to want an Eos but not to the extent that you are willing to lose your self respect over. I, too, was only a few hundred dollars within making a deal, but held my ground.

Was it worth it? You betcha. VW products have a large markup and the Eos is not one of the best sellers in their line.

Wait it out, IMHO.

FYI - Unlike the Cabrio, which was a convertible version of the Golf hatchback, the Eos is a standalone model with all-new body panels, although it shares the platform and components from the Passat (Mark 6 (B6 now PQ46 platform) (2005–present)). The wheelbase matches the Golf Mk5 and Jetta.

I sat in dead stop traffic on the merrit in CT yesterday, tons of frustrated commuters watched while i opened the roof and pulled out a book to read. It only takes one moment like that to reassure me that life is well spent under any circumstance if its spent in my EOS :-)

Thank for the feedback davidpaul and justjean. I picked it up today. The color combination was too much for me to resist. It's black oak brown with a beige interior.

It was 72 with lower humidity here this morning so I went for a sunrise spin. I had flashbacks to my 90 Cabriolet - albeit with a hint of big-boy feel.

Friend of mine has the exact same combination and, while it looks great in the photo, it looks absolutely fantastic in person. Good luck on the new car. If you enjoy it half as much as I do mine, you'll have no regrets.

I just bought one yesterday night and let me tell you it wasnt easy agreeing on a deal either. After a while of going back and forth while buying two cars in the same night and 3 previous VW's in the last year not only did I get an even trade from my 09 TDI same miles as the eos 30K on them both. but I also got the certified pre owned warranty with it as well which I did not have a warranty left on the Jetta TDI. So.... in the end patience and loyalty will pay off.

Good luck and if you really want it... do what you have to to get it. If its brand new you have every right to hold off until they meet your price. They cant use the argument it might not be here later as you can just order one or look at a different dealership. Good luck! you will not be dissapointed
