For great mechanical fitment and proper sound attenuation, this combination in 2.75" pipe and multi-core Golf R specific muffler works very well. If I may ask, why a 3" cat-back?
We understand the benefits of larger diameter pipe on turbo vehicles and (trust me) we could custom mandrel bend larger pipe for the Golf R. As with every system application we develop, we take the customer wants and needs into consideration. We understand most of our customers are looking for an aggressive exhaust note with plans for a tune down the road for added performance.
This cat-back is ideal for if your looking for an emissions compliant bolt-on exhaust and a louder-than-stock exhaust note at wide-open-throttle without the annoying cabin resonance (drone) while cruising.
Also remember this... if there's true market demand, we have the option to offer product for the Off-Road-Use-Only track car in a full turbo-back system or catless downpipe.

Looks good, but hard to judge the sound with all that wind noise. It would be great to have some more sound clips. One at idle with some throttle blips, you know the normal. Also one in the cabin, with some kind of reference sound, like someone speaking in a normal tone. The cabin clip should include mild acceleration from a stop, some highway cruising, and a hard acceleration from a stop.

IMO, this is the best sounding exhaust for the R to date. I'm definitely interested in learning more when info becomes available.![]()

I sent this email earlier, are you planning on offering black tips on this exhaust? I realize hat this is purely a cosmetic thing, however it's an option I'd like to see available from Borla. Also, what is the overall weight savings on this exhaust over a stock unit? Thanks-

Hi Alvin,
The soundaktor is a noise maker built into the car - it actually makes noise and hides the true sound of the engine.
Can you make a new video of the car with this unplugged?
See post #2 in this link: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...aktor-be-Gone-!
It literally takes less than 2 minutes to unplug and the difference is pretty amazing.
Note...I've ran your exhaust on all my R's in the past along with my Rovers.

Hey nice to see you guys coming out with the catback. Not to talk **** but are you actually going to make a downpipe for this? You guys just gave up ont he MkV GTi full TBE after using some candy white GTi to test and fit and dyno your MkV catback. On a positive note, I LOVED LOVED LOVED my Borla catback on my MkV, but was severely disappointed you never followed through with a DP for it. I miss Pt. Hueneme/Pt. Mugu and all those agricultural roads :-p
