they cannot cut Kaep or let that man walk. He might be better than Alex

They way Kaep is playing i am actually excited to see how Smith will play when the whole team is playing for keeps

    Agreed.

He has come along quite nicely this preseason. Drop Josh Johnson and keep Smith, Kaep and Tolzien.

So, Parys placed on IR, out for the season. That really blows. We kept 3 OLB's, including him. Now we have Aldon and Ahmad, and picked up Hagens from the Cards. This could be bad.

injuries will do this team in

like the year Manny Lawson went out - i always felt that team could have made a playoff run and then BAM - hes done for the year and well the 9ers just had another ****ty run

Aldon replaced him as a starter so here is hoping not much was lost on that injury

    They'll be fine.

    This year's roster:

    http://www.sfgate.com/sports/article...er-3838620.php

Obviously planning on running teams into the ground if possible. Lots of backs.

Spoke too soon and they give up a sloppy TD.

The refs are nuts on both sides. They should have brought back replays until the holdout is over. It would have at least cleaned up the games.

Won't gripe too much about the refs because they are blowing calls both ways. They really need to settle that labor dispute though.

kind of what i have been saying to my GB friends via text and facebook. No way GB should have even been that close but whatever

    **** YES!!!!

Also Detroit did not look too solid either against the Rams. 17 Rookies on Jeff Fisher's team and they almost beat Detroit in Detroit.

9ers need to stick it up the Lion's ass next Sunday

It is also wear your favorite jersey to work day thursday for the bears pack game. I think i might pick up a new one - just need to figure out - Gore Davis or Moss hmmmmm. Maybe Alex Smith (i believe now/again )

    im still excited

Yeah ... that game could easily have been 30-15.

A win is a win though. Despite the score being that close, it was a pretty dominant performance.

So much depth on this team that Willis was hanging out on the sideline, Moss, Manningham, Gore .... all taking turns chilling on the side. Yet everyone still got their touches.

Crabapple actually really impressed this game. I might have to lay off that guy a bit.

goldson should have caught that for a pick 6. Also a couple of times Moss was lined up in single coverage and no safety help

im wondering if this was only to be used in desperate times - Alex looked at it and did nothing

Also know why Moss doesnt like to block - see the run by Hunter that was a TD then called down at the 2? Moss tried to block but was just blasted by a defender

    He blocked im impressed

Im laying off Alex Smith - he finally looks good. Big Ben good in the fact that he can get the job done without ****ing up.

Really hope they can find a way to resign Bowman. Is he up for a contract this year or next? He is becoming a beast that might be a cap casualty

What a fun, sexy time for you.

just ordered an Alex Smith away Jersey.

the man is starting to put it together

this team reminds me of the Steelers last two SB teams. Great defense, solid run game, and weapons that make an average QB pretty damn good.

Smith had some shots but decided to hold onto the ball instead of turning it over. This is huge. They forced the high flying Packers into a slug fest and held them to two TDs.

Only team that scares me now is the Ravens and a lesser extent the Giants

Those high flying teams in Candlestick in the mud and rain will have a very hard time. Just as New Orleans did last year

Roethlisberger? He threw a pick 6 at the end of the game that sealed the loss for them. Alex Smith played better than that. He actually looked really good. Funny how a couple more receivers that can catch can change the game. I'd Forgotten that Moss signed with San Fran. Good to see him back on the field.

i was referring to his 15-1 rookie season and then his two super bowls

Big Ben is not an elite QB - not even close
But he can make the throws that need to be made and you can put the team on his shoulders.

You cant take Alex or Big Ben and make them throw 45-50 times and expect 400 yards and 4 TDs and win with OK WRs like Rodgers and Brees have done

    that was my comparison

I think it speaks highly of Bowman that when they went to 5 DBs, they left him in and took Willis out, rather than the other way around. Analyst on the radio this morning was saying he might have more upside than Willis. That's high praise.

They definitely need to resign him and lock both him and Willis up for a good, long time.

    Peyton Manning 19/26 253 yards 2 TDs
    Alex Smith 20/26 211 yards 2 TDs

    Peyton Manning is "back"
    Alex Smith "managed"

i love sports media - they wont give Alex Smith the credit he should get. This is why the 9ers are more dangerous than people think. He actually has a coach who understands QBs and has helped him out and now we are starting to see he can get it done.

If Alex Smith only needs to attempt 26 passes a game this should be pretty fun year

So is Detroit in rough shape or did they just start slow against the Rams last week?

If the 9ers can get 3 ints from Stafford this could be a blow out

Another solid game. Held the Lions to a single TD.

Not sure how the refs missed the forearm to a sliding Alex's head, but whatever. The replacement refs continue to suck.

The west is definitely off to a fast start this season. Those head to head games should be interesting.

I especially liked the double team where Walker and Davis pushed him all the way out to the sideline and dumped him on his ass.
