Sorry guys I'm bored.
My Scirocco build thread is just me blogging to myself. I switch back from building the Scirocco to building bikes.
Bike when I first got it.
Testing with the multimeter, checking grounds, wiring starter etc. Bike did not have spark. The CDI box was to blame. After testing the coil and the whole electrical system I narrowed it down to the CDI box.
Changed the CDI box, and it sparked
I bought a ultrasonic cleaner, that I used to clean the carbs. I disassembled the carbs, found them loaded with bad rusty fuel. I purchased a new kit on ebay with the accelerator pumps and gaskets.
After I cleaned the carbs, I then painted them with high heat engine enamel, the same with the engine block. Of course I gave it a very through cleaning with degreaser, and I went to town wire wheeling to get most of the surface rust. I used a high heat primmer first, and then sanded with 400.
Next I disassembled the rear of the bike. To paint the rest of the frame, and to clean the wheels up. I will be powder-coating the wheels. The gas tanks body work is just about finished. I shaved the sides of the tanks where the Honda Emblems / Decals go. I plan on blocking the primer, and painting sometime this weekend. I also mocked up the seat, I dipped the chrome shocks in Vinegar what an amazing difference, it eats the rust away. They aren't perfect but for 2 bucks for a gallon of Vinegar they look pretty nice.
The bikes paint scheme is Porsche GT3 Signal green and Beige.
Polished the front forks over the weekend. I had done this on my 79 GS, but they were installed on the bike. It's much easier to do when they are in your hand rather than installed on the bike.
