      http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...ds-300-Shipped

      Throttle Body cleaned and painted!

      Little more polishing....

      Getting ready to go on!

Jumping the washer fluid sensor to prevent a dummy light...thanks Ray32!

Just a little gunk build up ...wonder which (3) I had already cleaned in this picture

Bought me one of these for $20 on ebay! Hope this makes loosening the lower SC bracket bolt easier when the car is back together...

Thats not bad, harbor freight sells some nice things... but dont ever buy an engine lift from there... i suppose i shouldnt of expected much more than a one time use for 230 bucks on sale.

But anyways, your build is looking very good. You are doing a lot of tasteful modifications, not just throwing the kit up on there. Someday I hope I can own a car as good looking as yours, lol.

BTW Your engine bay is too clean...

Thanks guys! Man am I closer to completion then ever!

-MAF harness extension routed and installed
      -EVAP Check valves installed
      -DV vacuum line ran
      -Belt installed and tightened
-Wiring and hoses cleaned up (zip tied nice and neat)
      -Throttle body installed on intake
-Did one last polish on the valve cover

Ordered up some new fans since I was having issues with the big 345mm drivers side one not working all the time and then the temps creeping up in traffic. I was going to try and repair it but:

      1) I couldn't get the access panel off it. (The metal cover on the back of the fan)
      2) Figured it'd piss me off if that didn't work. (And I would only find out after the car is all back together)

So, I decided I might as well replace them both ($99ea at MJM w/ free shipping) and be done with it. Also ordered up a new K&N filter, RU-3620, incase anyone is ever curious. Literally all I have left to buy is a length of 5/8 hose to go from my power steering res to the pump.

Now I'm just waiting on my parts order to finish things up.

Wow, that's a clean engine bay. Just curious what the ft/lb the belt was tightened to. Isn't the VF-Eng spec something like 170?

Thanks Tell me a way to measure and I'll check Its tight, but I did'nt go crazy. I figured I'd see how it went....if it squeals, I'll go tighter. If I have to go crazy tight, I'm going to plan b and making my own dual idler setup

Trust me, you don't want to over-tighten it. I went through two water pumps and had to get my SC rebuilt from Vortech because of too much wear on the seals. After three years with the redesigned tensioner/idler setup from HPA, I've never seen water pump or SC seals/bearing faiure issues whatsoever since. Dial in just enough tension to where it doesn't slip, never ever over-tighten it. HPA makes a tool for checking the tension, but not sure it works for th VF setup, I suppose it should.

I didn't realize HPA had a tool available to check belt tension....I'll have to check that out. If they ever release the tensioner I plan to pick one up, but for now I'll have to make do.

Yeah my new belt is starting to squeel, so time to tighten it a bit for it's first time. Soon as I get above 6-7k rpm, it likes to make some noise atm.

Also interested to see if you do make a new idler pully, would be nice to get something a bit closer to the HPA one.

Check valves only let vacuum pressure only go one way, so you don't surge back and do damage to other components.

The HPA idler can be reproduced easy if know someone with a CNC machine?

Who's taking the lead on this?

      Pictures from yesterday...

Charge pipe got welded...shout out to BNR Motors in Meriden CT

It needed a little more persuasion then I thought to clear the bumper... I heated it up with a torch, used a piece of 6"x6"x.375 flat stock and a hammer, and for some reason it didn't flatten out like I thought it would. It sort of caved in...Aluminum is weird but it'll work and it'll dissapear once its painted.

Plan is to paint the lower half black and then polish the upper section (Which will be visible from the bay). This way I'm stealth but got the bling under the hood when I decide to open it

      Charge pipe painted:

Boost gauge mounted....and wires run for both gauges. Now I just need to connect all the wires (Once the car is back up and running, so I know what wires to splice into)

Boost tubing and WBO2 wiring harness (Ellery, these are for you...)
