The car: 2002 Jetta GLS 1.8T Tip, 126,000 miles

Searched for quite a while through the AT Forums... 1st through 4th and reverse function as normal, no issues. When in overdrive and over 20-25% load the trans-axle begins to slip pretty badly. Curious if anyone has had the same issues, looking for any insight before the trans-axle needs to be replaced. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

If I'm understanding your description correctly I would assume you have a clutch burnt up (common).
Auto trans fluid change or flush will not make a trans fail. Stop spreading the wives tale/urban myth.
