What brand LEDs did you use inside? Do you have a link so I can purchase? Do they give bulb out sign on gauge cluster? Thanks very much
#6
i just got them off of ebay.. pulled the bulbs out to find out what they were and just did it that way...
they only issue is the overhead cluster ones just stay on a little bit but i just ignore it... not sure if i need to add a resistor or anything.. i tried 3 different style bulbs too and they all do it..

Very nice Tig, I also love it in white (got one of my own). I'm looking to tint the windows and was thinking about 20 or 30% on the rears (probably doing 30% on the fronts). With the 15% plus the factory tint on the back windows, is it practically impossible to seen in? And what kind of light still makes it inside the car.
Mine is actually my wife's car and she's afraid that she's gonna lose a lot of the incoming light (one of her favorite aspects of the car with the pano roof) if we go too dark on all the back windows. I'd love to hear your thoughts on both inside and outside views of the tint. Thanks in advance.

i dont think its to dark... they said with the factory tint the back comes out to bout 7%... i was worried bout seeing out at night but its fine... dark but i can still see no problem.. i also got the ctx tint so it has ceramic in it or something... helps reflect the uv better then the standard i guess...
in the day you can kinda see in if the light is the right way but you really need to look.. and you get plenty of light inside... im pretty happy with it
im going to get my pana roof done too in a few weeks.. prob 15%

i think there is only 3 bulbs used ( i did it a year ago)... found some of my old ones so the qty might be off so verify before
overhead lights qty x2 p/n w5w
there are tons of different styles on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HID-White-LE...9cb4df&vxp=mtr
the sunvisor lights and the side lights i think are the smaller one but i dont have the p/n i just popped them out and looked on ebay for that led bulb...
the trunk light is the same as the license plate light and thats the package listed....

i got bored today and painted my front side markers.... and i checked the cheapest i could find online is 17/ea plus like 7 shipping..... in case
but yea, i will probably redo it cause i dont think its a 100% paint match but its close for now..
they just have 2 clips and pop out.. passanger side u can reach in in the engine compartment but drivers side u have to go under the wheel well... but very easy and fast..

I'd like to try a textured paint on ours. Dunno if wifey will go for it but I think it looks nice on other vehicles, why not the tiggy?
Good work on this so far, I like the interior lighting alot.
#17
Bailey, you do realize that there are two PCV lines that need to be dealt with when adding a catch can. One at the front to the intake manifold and one at the rear, right above the turbo.
#18
Yea i do. Guna see how this catch can looks/works and might get one for the front and one for the back.. Havent decided yet
Ive seen a lot of do this or try that so im guna see how the can looks 1st... If anything it was only 38 bucks shipped and i know people that can use it if i dont..
I need to look more at the back and see what i want to do.. I havent see many pictures of what people are doing in the back yet..

I purchased the Forge CC. It replaces the whole PCV system. The only beef I had with it and all the others out there is they expect you to remove the can to drain it. In the winter this would be once every 3 weeks or so. I removed the drain plug and ran a tube to the bottom splash pan and capped it off with a brass cap. I can drain it without even jacking up the car. Other than that it does work well at catching moisture and oil blow by. And let's not get into the debate on whether or not it solves this or that problem.

I just drained it after a month of super hot weather. Little to no water and about 1/4 cup of oil goop. In the winter, way more water, say 1/2 cup and 1/3 cup oil. Is it worth it, YES!!!! Having that oil goop go back in the engine, not to mention the turbo can't be good. Turbos are meant to pump air, not oil.
#23
yes, i will have the can plumbed to the front... depending how big this can is i will probably machine a bracket to hold them both.. kinda more of a i am bored and wana play with something project vs a lot of function.... like i said its only 40 bucks for the can and i have someone who might get one if he likes it so...
the forge is prob the way to go but im spending a lot less if this works the way i want it to.. but yea i had a 42 draft designs on my gli.. very very nice set up and it looked and worked great. i put a small valve in and i just ran a 1/4 tube down the wheel well and dumped it on the ground... probably do something similar again...
in the winter i would drain it once a week...
#24
yea i dont care bout the debate but on my fsi it drained a lot of crap that would build up on my fill cap and after i installed it it went away...
yes a fsi is different but i live in mn and in the winter it works pretty good. drain a lot more out then... cept dont forget to drain it when its super cold... ive seen some cans blow up cause the water froze in the can![]()

There is a company that is selling a clone of the 'Africa plate', and with your catch can would be cheaper than the Forge version. Check the TSI forum. I think I saw it there. For me, 2 years ago, there were few options. You can do it with way less expense.
#28
oh, i also put in license plate led's and parking light leds and im now getting fault codes for all 4 bulbs...
fyi.... guna see if my buddy with a vag-com can turn it off or i may swap the bulbs back.....

got my auto headlight switch today, threw it in and its all good cept the auto part... all other functions work great except the rear fog light...
so thats guna be the next thing i do is to figure out how to hook up, trace wires or turn on a feature in the ecu.....
the bottom pic os the rear tail light... on the bottom it looks like there are bulbs in the fixture so i assume thats where the rear fog light are....

The "auto" part wont work unless you retrofit the auto headlight and rain sensor wipers (which require to change your windshield) or if you get this Auto headlight upgrade kit from Bold-Sport.com. I ordered mine and waiting patiently to get it in the mail
