      Waterfest 2012

-Chapter 1- Heading South Down the Eastern Seaboard

For us here in Atlantic Canada, we may not have the population numbers, but we make up for the impressive dubs that hail our streets. From vintage air-cooled goodness to bagged .:R32 swapped 4 motions, from Silly Rabbit to slammed mk2's, VR swaps and hella crazy mk3 toilets, caddy's, cabbies, S4's, e30's and mk2 coupes to name a few. A lot of the fellas couldn't make the trip, I wished I could have brought them all.

Check us out at http://www.customobsessions.com and http://www.dublove.ca

My trip didn't start off on the right foot. I ran into fuse/electrical problems with my air ride. Not something I looked forward to worrying about for the 18hr journey ahead of us.

I rectified the problem, but decided to leave my car at home and took my truck to meetup (and ride shotgun) with my buddy Kyle. He's a guy responsible for my dub addiction.

I grew up in cities all my life, but I woke up at a farm house

We started this adventure at the break of dawn...

Kyle Norman is one of the local Unitronic reps and his car was going to be in the booth. Sweet. Quick access to everything and no line ups or the long dirty walk to general parking. Front and center in the middle of it all. Unitronic wanted a few pictures for an ad showcasing the event. We did a quick and easy dirty shoot of his bagged TDI...

We met up with a few of the local veterans. Their cars were going into vendor booths as well. Not bad for a convoy of 4 dubs. All 4 in vendor booths lol.

      The aforementioned .:R32 swapped 4motions...

Lee Purcell's .:R32 4motion GLI was going into the C2 Motorsports booth

Kevin Misner's boosted .:R32 4motion Jetta Wagon was going into the HPA booth

Pat Burke's 1977 Rabbit stage2 Callaway was going into the KW Suspension booth for the first day

The title Sh!tfinger kinda stuck after one runs into one of these machines...

Bowel movements are bound to happen for such a long cruise. It Happens. But when you gotta go, you gotta go. Typically one would pull over to the side of the road and use a sock. Counts for 2 potential mishaps. But when one travels with sandals...hopefully no one finds out. So that's how the youngest traveler amongst the 8 of us got the title Sh!tfinger. It was good for a few laughs the whole trip. Whether or not he actually used his finger..only he knows lol.

      -Chapter 2- Morning in Mass

We had a stop-over in the great state of Massachusetts to cut down the traveling time...

      We ran into some rain...

And in typical VW fashion, we ran into a little bit of this...

      -Chapter 3- The Dirty Jerz

We found our way into Linden VW and HPA Motorsports. A great group of guys that know their stuff and product.

Testing out a new line of HPA brakes

      Lee had a twin..

Lee even had the guys do an aignment on his GLI

-Chapter 4- A Night in the Dirty Jerz

After our visit with Linden VW and HPA, we checked into our hotel for a 2 night stay. It was a very mild scene as far as partying and shenanigans was concerned. At least there was a Hooters next door lol..

It was a good thing it was quiet. Made for a good night's sleep before Waterfest in the morning. Even security was relaxed...

      -Chapter 5- Waterfest Is GR8

At the break of dawn, it was time to get the cars washed and cleaned...

Sh!tfingers was still digging for gold here...

      -Chapter 6- Raceway Park.....Home of Waterfest 18, 2012

Crowds started to form. It was a good thing we were in the vendor's booths, so we didn't have to wait until the gates opened up to the public. There was still a few hours for that to happen

-Chapter 7- Waterfest 18 Vendors Arena. Day One

I was fortunate enough to see the whole show from beginning to end. I still wasn't sure of the spectacle that was about to ensue

I couldn't wait to see what would the 295/25/20XL's were going on...

It was a red-carpet affair for Unitronic

The APR booth was nothing short of spectacular. As one of the major sponsors to Waterfest they sure came to please everybody's needs

They also had 2 portable hoist for all your install needs with techs ready

The Speed track.....where egos are made or broken.....

The commercialism was high on priority. A dollar was to be made today. So don't forget your wallet. Everybody had their pitch...

Here's something you don't see everyday. Compound turbo anybody???

With dubs...comes suspension mods. Well known are the guys from Bag Riders and Air Lift...And these guys have taken that mod to a new level.

I was excited to see the Regime. Been a fan for a while now lol...

So many beautiful rides...and I got to see them before anybody else did.

These guys cruised all around the show all day blasting tunes. How awesome was that?

This CW CC was totally PlastiDipped...

HPA Motorsports brought the full crew of beauties

It wasn't a total VAG turnout. We all have JDM friends...right?

When buying a car from the dealership, everything you buy is stock and un-modded. The worst when buying new is the suspension. Four-finger gap is cray....It's jacked son!!!

But VW techies are the best. Some dealerships, the techs know how to dress when working on your dub. And always practicing all safety standards when working on your dub

DJ Charley Brown in the Unitronic booth

      And the Unitronic Girls

At this point the masses were piling in...

-Chapter 8- General Parking and Show Stoppers

Was good seeing the boys/girls from Audizine

      Forever Alone

      -Chapter 9- Fish Eye Perspective

The sun was beating down so we had to seek refuge in the shade. We took in a bit of speed at the drag events. Had a bite to eat and I continued on my tour with a new lens.

Unitronic's Mini-Magic Man finished off Day One

This was the only shot I had of Lee's bagged .:R32 4motion GLI

As it turned out, it got better for Lee. A photographer for European Car (formally EuroTuner) asked Lee to do a shoot somewhere near the tracks.

-Chapter 10- First, We'll Take Manhattan.....

After Day One festivities, a few of us decided to take a rip to Manhattan Island. Not something we get a chance to do often, especially in a 4motion .:R32 GLI...in NY on a Saturday night lol

Even better, I got a pic of Lee and his car...together...In Times Square

And I got ****finger to pose as well...

      -Chapter 11- Waterfest Day Two

After a night on the town, Day 2 was just as exciting as Day 1. Except this day was the show car competition. And everybody brought out their best. I managed to creep around the site to check the vendors area before the show cars piled in.

Thanks a bunch Pat. Definitely good times. Hopefully I can swing it this year. It'll depend on the dates, but I'd definitely go again. Me and Kyle are thinking SOWO in 3 weeks.....I know you just got back from Florida but would love to have you along for Georgia.

Thanks for the compliments everybody. Sexy cars makes my job easy...

Even though it's a year later, I am somehow stumbling on this thread for the first time just now.

      Hah!

That's me, washing the Fourtitude long-term R8 on Saturday morning. The VWVortex Project Touareg GTD is behind it in the first picture.

I think I remember seeing you guys - I distinctly remember the clean MKI and the R32/GLI.

And that's our booth - I'm the leftmost guy under the tent in the background. You were there very early to get that shot! Probably right after we rolled the R8 LMP off of the transporter. I *really* miss having that car in our booth. It was so cool.

      Anyhow, nice pictures.
