I know most of the time this isn't considered the most ideal swap but I got a complete 16v swap including the matching harness, fuel dizzy/lines/injectors, etc from one source so I was planning on just ripping the whole thing out and replacing it. For the most part from what I've read it's a direct plug and play swap, but I just found out the fuel pump setup is pretty different, and I need the fuel pump box from a 16v before I can do the swap.

So right now I have literally everything out of the engine bay of a '92 16v GLI ready to go into a digi II car, including ECU and cluster. What do I need, from this point, before I can safely start to rip the tired old 8v out? Is the plug the same for the 8v digi pump as it is for the 16v CIS one? Is there any way I could just use the digi II fuel pump setup (even if I have to get a different pump), or is it completely out of the question?

Upon some further investigation, I've found multiple threads about people not being able to get power out of the 16v above 4000 rpms with the stock 8v digi II fuel pump setup, so I'm guessing it is possible to make the car run with the digi II box, but maybe swap out the fuel pump for a Walbro 255 to get the necessary fuel pressure? I can only hope it will be that easy.

just buy a fuel rail and put the digi on the 16v

no new fuel pump, still have efi, only need to buy injector bungs and a fuel rail.
