I think that pre 83+84 are different but I just pulled the windows on my 84 rabbit by pushing from the inside. It was pretty easy to take out on my car. I just helped the seal out as I went.

so it looks like I will have to pull this window before painting. does anyone know if it can be pulled without cutting the seal and how? push in or pull out? new seals seem kinda pricey. TIA
