Thread: 1.8T Throttlebody trouble

  1. 07-29-2012 03:09 PM #1
So I was trying to fix somethings by working the potentiometer, but my situation didn't change. I've got the "error in basic settings" code... On close inspection I found that the contact traces that the throttlebody adaption is supposed to use has lost some of the material and apparently isn't able to make enough contact.

While I'm betting my only option is to get a replacement TB, I'm wondering I'd anyone knows of any alternatives? Otherwise, this will quickly become a want to buy thread.

Now I know there's engineers in these parts... And I know there's tinkerers too... No ones got anything to offer? The only code I have is the 17967 error in basic settings... And given the circumstances I don't want to go toss $300 for spanking brand new throttlebody...

I've only had the car for a year now... But the car has 207k on it...

And anything other than OE is only if you plan on using a special tune...

I did pick up a used TB for 52 shipped...

stock throttle bodys are the only thing that will work properly on a 1.8t..any other size and your asking for troble

Not at all. Many users have used larger throttle bodies with no issues even on tunes that don't account for the larger TB.
