Thread: Today, I cried... Crying at Supercar Sunday, eh?

Sorry about the "eh." Armed Escort was visiting from Canadia (along with Slonie and Jerry_HEAVEN, who are from NorCal, which may as well be Southern Canadia) and I believe I've been infected. I am craving a couple of hundred mililitres of maple syrup and the TV is on a 24-hour hockey channel.

Anyway, I demanded that the three of them appear at Supercar Sunday and they did so. As we wondered the show with SVT2888, I spotted this, which caused 1) heart palpitations, 2) goose bumps (goose pimples in Canadieeen?) and 3) visible teardrops.

Yep, that did it (it was parked nose-to-nose with a Renault 5 Turbo II, which may have added to the intensity). As some of you know, I have an unhealthy relationship with the 131 Abarth. Like BBC "I have sex with autos"-levels of unhealthy.

I waited for the owner, only to cover him with gushing verbal diarrhea of compliments. I think I may have offered him the M3 plus a small sack of cash. I don't really remember. Everything is in an opiate-like haze. I do remember slowly running my hand on the Lada-esque door handle in a semi-erotic manner.

I think Leo took more pics. Actually, I know he did as I threw a temper tantrum demanding that he 1) take pics and 2) get on his knees...

And check to see if the suspension was IRS. It was not, so the car is a replica (as I later confirmed). Still, a great replica.

Other interesting finds (to me, at least):

Dolomite Sprint!!! I gushed and gushed and gushed. Then they all walked away and left me all alone :

    An interesting pair of Rolls-Royces:

Freshly-imported RHD 200T (still wearing customs paperwork):

Bonneville record holder or deranged owner. Pick one.

"The only thing a Disco is good for." - Slonie

    Second M1 in two days.

Then we went to Mulholland, where we saw a gentleman in an Evora "snitch" to the CHP about a G8 making an illegal pass. Turns out that people remembered the Evora's plates and, post-ticket, the G8 owner proclaimed that the Evora driver was going to have "problems" if the two ever meet again. This was too intense for the peaceful Canadian, so we left.

That is all. Maybe they'll post their pics here. Maybe they'll ignore this post. We shall see.

I'm the one that spotted the Abarth for you!

    1. Had no idea you cared about the Dolomite. No one else did. Besides, how did you miss it?!?
    2. When you told me about the Abarth, I had no idea it was a 131 Abarth, so seeing it peeking out from behind the R5 Turbo was a shock to my delicate constitution .

...and "eh" isn't only for Canadians. I am from the U.P. of Michigan and for some reason, we say it too. People think I am Canadian because of how I talk, but I still have to pay for health care.

If you didn't notice cars kept coming in and out fairly quickly, so it must have come in while I was in a different section of the lot....

That 131 is very cool, had seen it up at Italian car day at Woodley park a few months ago.

Always drooled over them, but I would take a Mk II Ford Escort with a Cosworth BDA over it

The 131 Abarth looks amazing. Is it really a replica? If it is, that's a very convincing fake.

Sad I couldn't make the trip out with Armed_Escort, would have been a good time. Oh well, there's always the NSX Prime meet in September.

Actually, the Dolomite is one of my all-time favorite cars. I seriously need to work on importing one....or a Mk3 Capri. Hmmm.

I was telling Slonie about how you loved them and their 16v-ness.

Then I turned around and realized he had walked away to look at a BRZ (along with everyone else) and I was talking to myself.

You narrowly avoided being mauled by a wild Slonie. As you may or may not be aware, he is enamored with various 7 clones and very nearly jumped into your Superlight for a trip to the Rock Store (possibly at gun point).

Physical restraint had to be used.

    Edit: Spelling

In any case, that Miata's engine and drivetrain have moved on to other cars, but it's okay, because Vadim's going to buy this. The next road trip is to Oregon and back, right?
