Unfortunately, the time has come for us to sell our MK2.

The car was originally owned by a member of a German Archdiocese. Under his ownership, the starter died and the car was eventually parked and left in the church parking lot for an undetermined number of years. The car was then purchased by another VW owner who replaced the starter and sold it to us.

Link from when we brought home the car: Meet Gretta

This car is 100% rust free and the paint is all original. The paint on the hood, trunk and roof is oxidized quite a bit from the years it was parked. I have done everything shy of a respray to make it look better. Even with the clear coat coming off, the paint still feels "glassy" to the touch. The rest of the paint on the car is beautiful.

$4,000 with complete 5 spd trans swap
    $3,500 w/o the trans swap

    Info:

    1990 Jetta GL Wolfsburg 1.8 8V
    168,000 miles
    Paint: LA3Z
Automatic (comes with complete 5spd swap)
    Air conditioning works
    NJ inspection until 6/2013

What has been done (less than 1000 miles):

    Battery
    Wheel bearings and hubs
    Brake rotors and pads
    Raceland coilovers
    Manual seat belt conversion
    Fan and motor (OEM)
    Fan shroud powdercoated black (OEM)
    Strut bearings
    Ball joints
    Bosch Starter
    Door handles w/polished inserts
    Wipers
    Tail lights
    Headlights
    Thermo switch
    Temp sensor
    Power steering reservoir replaced
    AC charged with R12
Heidelberg radio (used to have cheap aftermarket deck)

    Needs:

    Rear speakers
Exhaust - The original exhaust from 1990 is still on the car and rusting. It passed emissions; however, it still needs to be replaced.

Although the car is an automatic, it comes with a complete 5-speed swap from a MK2 GTI (trans, pedals, engine bay components, shifter, trim, etc).

This car is one of the cleanest OEM cars that you will find, especially in this rare color, and I hope that the next owner can continue where we left off.
