    The picture is from the article about the guy that shipped his G Wagen around the world. Does anyone know what type of tire is pictured on the vehicle and spare, and are they still made?

    Not sure - it looks familiar but I can't place it.


    If I were to take a tire around the world it would be the BFG AT.

    Looks like a match, double reflex. Thanks. Now that I've posted this thread, I have noticed an XJ at work with these tires.

    While I have your attention, CBJ, what would be your top 'tire to take around the world?'

    Not that you asked me, but I'd say Goodyear Duratracs or Nitto Trail Grapplers. My personal opinion.

    STT...great tire in mud and deep snow. Horrible on ice and have a wicked howl.

    All true, but the howl isn't a problem at lower speeds off pavement (gravel). For most of Africa and Asia the ice shouldn't be a major problem...unless you choose to cross Russia in winter and who besides the Germans and French would try that?
