Thread: Brake fluid

  1. 07-30-2012 12:20 PM #1
The other, friend of mine brought his 2000 Beetle 2.0 manual over, complaining about some brake vibrations.

Drive the car, felt some slight vibration under light braking. Did a 60mph harder braking, when brake pedal 'fell to floor'.

    Pedal is firm when cold.

Time for change out the brake fluid?

Is the Beetle using standard (DOT 3, 4 or 5) or the special VW/Audi (expansive) stuff?

When changing: Suck out with hand vacuum pump from bleeder on all 4 corners?

You might want to check the brake booster vacuum hose for cracks or leaks.
