So this is going to be my first real build. To start the car is a 1997 golf. The car has 260k orignal miles. I have alot of history with this car, it was my first and i sold it, well 2 years later i got it back in a trade. Now back to the car, i have big plans for it. I just purchased about 6000 in parts for it. Im converting to itb and a msd stand alone. Ive messed around with fuel injection and forced induction, and im not a fan and i need to take it back to my roots of building cars. Ive always have been in love with the simplicity of carburetors and distributors. So that is going to be my goal, to have a high compression all motor car, along with having a amazing looking show car. Im going to be painting the car lambo green, and have a color matched cage and shaved bay. and mabey over winter a rhd conversion.

My little order from Black Forrest Industries.

So, other than the throttles, what do you plan for engine mods to support them?

as for the motor, i will be putting in a 288 cam with tt valve springs, and port and polish to the head alone with 12.3/1 compression pistons, and a msd box and coil. and that whole exhaust system is going in the garbarge im going to be making a custom 2.5 inch flowmaster exhaust.

Thanks a lot, i got more pics coming, i got the body all hand blocked down and is perfectly straite. Tomorrow i will hopefully be-able to prime the whole car and wet sand it smooth. Im stuck on the color though i keep thinking about it and keep going agianst having another green car... so i think im gonna do the original tornado red with a pearl mid coat and lots and lots of clear to make it deep. Suggestions??

This also came in the mail. It will be a supprise for tommaro haha. Its about 7 feet long and 2 feet wide and weights almost 200 pounds.

Well today when i was trying to take off my hatch windsheild wiper i some how managed to break the nut off of the stud... so i decided to just delete the motor and shave it, oh and weld in a mk4 liscence plate tube, ahah no more raddling from that stupid plastic one. Donar trunk My phone died at my second coat of filler, i got it 90 percent done just need to block down the final coat of glaze and its ready for primer. now to the next task, making up my mind if i want a boser or not.

That's.....a lot of compression. That won't run on street gas. What trans are you going to run? That 288* has a soft bottom end....more-so if you're running ITB's.

I think you should build the 8v a 288* with itb's will rip up top, however not until probably 4 grand or better, but with that big cam and supporting mods pulling 8k should be no problem. However your compression goals are pretty far out, why not just deck the head .040/.050 and go with a BFI 90mm head gasket for a semi-aggressive, but practical compression bump?

Skip the 288* all-together and go with TT's 298*. More flow and better bottom end. Especially with a MKII trans.

Hope you get the head ported by someone who knows wtf they are doing.

Dont use a flowmaster muffler!!! Those belong on V8s. Magnaflow FTW
