If you let it stay for awhile - what is the voltage of the battery? Maybe alternator in not charging it properly. If it is not the alternator it could be that your starter is going bad.

Car has a hard time starting when sitting for awhile

I been noticing this lately. In the morning usually, when i turn the key to start the car (07 GTI 2.0 FSI)... it doesn't start right away. Once, I had to turn the key twice to get it going. I googled around and read that this might be battery related. So I ended up getting a new battery at autozone since the car is 5-6 years old now. I thought that would solve the problem but it didn't. Last night, I went to see the new batman movie. Car was sitting for about 3 hours, I tried to start the car and it struggled to start but ended up starting. 2 weeks ago, I got my fuel pump, cam shaft, cam follower replaced under warranty. So I'm not sure what's causing this.
Edit: Also want to mention that the spark plugs are fairly new with only 2500 miles on em.

My friend (hyundai tech) ended up helping me test my battery, alternator, and starter and he says those are fine... we're both really baffled on why this is happening in the morning. I wish I didn't live so far from him so he can test it for me while I leave it overnight.

I'm starting to think it's the driver door latch that's causing this issue. I been turning the key to let the fuel prime (a couple of times) prior to starting in the morning and it seems to be working. And the vagcom scan shows an issue with the driver door too. Since the mk5 gti's driver door activates the fuel prime when opened... and I noticed when the driver door is opened, sometimes it shows on the MFD and sometimes it doesn't.
