I HAVE SEARCHED and every thread i find just states "its been done" or has no responses at all

how much work if any is needed to fit either: an early mk1 dash or mk2 dash. i have both in perfect condition in my basement, and a cracked to **** dash in my scirocco.

i would prefer to get the mk2 dash to fit, but if the mk1 dash is more straight forward swap ill just got with that.

    mk2 dash will look better
sell the mk1 dash to someone who isn't going to hack it to bits

Guess that depends if you are talking about MkI and MkII Sciroccos, or Golfs. Also, there is no A2 Scirocco-they're all A1 chassis.

Im sure u knnow exactly what imtalking about from context clues.

    87 sciroccoo

    '80 rabbit dash
    '90 jetta dash

There's no way I hell im goig to cut up the '80 dash, I had thoght maybe it would be a direct fit considering there both a1 chassis

Mk2 jetta dash would indeed look better, but I do not believe I had asked for opinions on apperance.

the rabbit dash is narrower than a scirocco dash, by a few inches
i've never thrown a mk2 dash in a scirocco or vice versa to see, but i have a feeling the mk2 dash is also narrower, although not as much
a mk2 dash in a rabbit is a very tight fit

I had no idea until you cleared this up.

I would put neither, hunt down a good Rocco dash IMO.

Neither dash seems to flow well with the Rocco interior IMO

But if I were to go with a guess, I would say go Jetta dash, since there are more common traits, cluster design and fit, radio/ vent locations, switches more available etc.
Old sciroccos never die....they just go faster....sometimes.......

Same here... In this forum when I hear MkI or MkII, I think of which body style Scirocco, early or late. Now A1 and A2 are totally different chassis designations, A1 are Rabbits, 'roccos, cabriolets, caddys, and early Jettas. A2 is the 85-92 Golf/Jetta.

Why can't people get this straight

It seems you've been using Ax and Mkx interchangeably, even in reverse. I found it easier to understand when I switched them around.

That said, could you reply w/ something like

I have an early dash from a "..." and i was wondering if it would fit into a "...".

(Btw- I found this thread while looking for a 'Corrado dash into a MkI Scirocco, pref. w/ pix'. Surprisingly it's been hard to find amongst the clutter...) oops, forgotlink:
