So sorry to see this!

I thought I would share some terrible news!
The 1993 Cabriolet Classic 16vt which I had built and restored is now dead. 2 years and thousands of dollars burnt before my eyes! I was driving back with another vortex member from a local car meet when we both started to smell gasoline driving north on the 410 hiway into Brampton. We both thought it might be one of the transport trucks located around us and kept driving- little did we know that the fuel return line off of the fuel rail had burst and was no saturating the engine bay with 45psi of gasoline. As soon as we realized it was not the trucks around us we immediately pulled off at sandalwood pkwy and pulled onto the shoulder. As soon as we got out of the car- BOOM! The hood raised and flamed started to shoot everywhere!
Long story short- I watched my hard work and countless hours melt right before my eyes as I waited for fire to come and give her a bath. Sigh…

R.I.P. or motivation for a shaved engine bay?
J/K, That's rough man. Every single plastic or rubber component is gone right? I sure you could rebuild but it must be devastating. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Sorry to hear, just finished my minor restore and I keep thinking how hard it would be it all my hard work was ruined by an accident or ?
The bay picture doesn't look too bad, but maybe I am missing something. At least it doesn't look like this: - what happens when you forget to put the oil filler cap back on (not my engine thank God!)

Took another look and I can see what you are talking about, looks like the driver side is burn to hell and back. Just plain sucks!
So what are the plans at this point?

what brand/type fuel line were you using? where did you buy it and how old do you think it was?

Sucks. i bet you used carb fuel (low press.) instead of fuel injected line (high press.). Lemme give you some advice being that you didn't take the last piece i gave you......and i'm sure people will agree.....DO NOT cheap out on a build like you just done. I'm truly sorry for your lost & i'm glad you're safe & alive to build another. I'm not the type of person that sh*ts on what people build but there were to many mistakes in your build thread.
When your ready to build another, contact me & i'll help you get things together. I'm the king at saving moneyAgain, i'm sorry to see it go yet im happy to see you unharmed. car caught on fire at the end of my block and the guy barely escaped.

I noticed you had different clamps on your build thread pictures. So you might have damaged the hoses by using the Cheap (open gear) clamps the first time. But your burnt engine pics looks like you have the Higher quality Gemi clamps.
Anyways i enjoyed looking over your build thread and tragic stuff happens to everybody but don't let that be your downfall. None of us are perfect.
