I'm in and totally willing to organize if there's enough interest. Who's down?
UPDATE: The jolly Roger is blocked off, so we will be having the get together at the backup spot, which is the parking lot at 45th and coastal. Look for the Taphouse It is now official, the get together will be held at 4:00 on Saturday (the 29th), at 45th and coastal. This is the same lot that the taphouse is in.

I would be totally down, but my 16v will still be in pieces, I'll stop by in the 40v if this gets going though

I figured that the number of drivable 16v cars would be the determining factor of this g2g, so the odds may be against it

That's too bad, I always liked your car. I even thought about buying it for a while, would have looked great in the garage next to this

That's good to hear, many times cars like yours are sold into the wrong hands and end up being neglected and whored around the community. Glad to hear your car ended up with a good home

I'd stop by in my poop car if it doesn't take place at the same time as something else I want to check out.

We can swap stories about how our cars don't start/run/idle correctly

Glad to see more interest. I'm going to make some calls tomorrow regarding a few spots I have in mind. Question to everyone-is it more important to have a g2g right on the strip, or to be off the beaten path a bit for a more low key gathering?

Depends on how off the path it is, I wouldn't mind going down a side street to get somewhere but I don't want to be driving across the bridge. I've heard lots of people back out of going to other meets because they were too far off the strip.

Oh I wasn't planning on going that far off the strip, just down a side street, or a back lot hiding somewhere.

There's one every year to the best of my knowledge. I'm in Myrtle Beach for a few days on vaca, and will be stopping in Ocean City on the way back to check out a few spots for the get together. Should have an official spot by next week

Probably the only time I'm glad we didn't get a 16v limited in this country.....not a single one would make it I'll be in Ocean City in about 8 hours, I'll try to get pictures of spots and google map locations up this evening.

On the subject of that, I did some scouting in Ocean City today. I have narrowed it down to 2 places, maybe people can chime in on which they prefer. As far as time, I was thinking 4:00 on Saturday, looking at the g2g list it shouldn't interfere with anything else. The first spot I really like is at 45th and Coastal. It is a big parking lot right on the strip, the same parking lot that the Passat g2g is in (the Taphouse lot if anyone knows what that is). Here is a google map screen shot of the parking lot for reference.

The second one is a bit off the beaten path. It is a parking lot behind the Jolly Roger that isn't visible from the main road and can only be accessed from a side road off the strip. Here is a screenshot of the parking lot:

This is zoomed out so you can see the way in:

Let me know what you guys think

The Jolly Rogers lot is good, if it doesn't get rowdy (should be a more mature crowd I'd think anyway). The 45th lot has generally been home to the mk2 gtg as well, so that may work out well if that's held there again this year (it moved last year).

I'm pretty sure the mk1 gtg got kicked out of that Jolly Roger parking lot last year
