US MKVI Jetta (2011) Setting for turning off ALL lights with Ignition Switch?

I have been looking for over a year now for a way to configure my 2011 Jetta TDI to turn all lights off, including city lights/parking lights, etc. as soon as I switch the ignition off regardless of what position the headlight switch is in. I'd like to be able to leave the headlight switch on and not worry about my battery being drained by these lights that stay on.

I've tried looking into the following bits:

I believe the first setting simply turns on the parking lights anytime you turn on the ignition. The second two were already disabled on mine, and enabling them doesn't seem to make any difference.

Does anyone have the definitive answer on this? I don't have fog lights, all lights are stock, and I was hoping to just change this behavior if possible without having to do any wiring mods.

It's possible... in Module 9, I'll have to check out my parents Jetta, but there's an option to disable lights with the ignition key regardless of headlamp switch. It was one of the later Bytes in the module. My dad has a tendency to leave the headlight switch on and killed the battery before I modified it for them :-)

I've spent half the day goin over the various bits in Module 9 and the problem is, no matter what I try, the parking lights stay on if the headlights switch is in the on position, but the ignition is switched off and key removed.

Those Parking Light Functions don't seem to make any difference. There has to be a way to have all the parking lights and the small bulb next to the headlights turn off regardless of that headlight switch being on.

Byte 15... Bit 5 :-) Let me know if that does the trick!

Thanks for checking on this. If I open Module 9, and check byte 15, bit 5 is listed as "Heated Front Window installed." Do your parents have a JSW or Jetta earlier than a 2011? If so, it's a completely different set of electronics. I was really hoping someone had figured this out in a Jetta Sedan MK6. Can't believe there aren't more people out there with this same request.

They have the JSW.... and that would explain the difference! Hopefully someone from Ross-Tech will chime in, or someone with a Sedan!

I had a 2011 Jetta TDI so I'll chime in. I'm not pretending to be correct though...

Even though the BCM has those options in there, they can't override hardwiring. Case in point, the DRLs. I could check and uncheck boxes in every combination but it wouldn't disable the dedicated DRLs. That was only possible by bending or taping off the TFL pin (Mk4 style). My guess is that the parking lights are hardwired similarly.

Thanks for the information. I've been all over Module 9, and the only thing close to the setting you showed on the JSW is "Parking Lights ON with "Terminal 15 ON" which seems to have no effect whatsoever. That's crazy they have no provision in there for something as simple as shutting off all the parking lights.

I'd be happy to install a switch or make a very minor modification if someone who owns one of these could confirm.

Ugh! When I have access to their BCM I'll read it out. I just remember running across it because my father kept leaving the headlights on and running the battery down. Once I toggled it the key OFF would turn all the lights off regardless of headlight switch position.

Thanks for all your help, but it's probably not necessary to look at theirs any further. The JSW is totally differnet. Evidently things might be more hard coded in the sedan unfortunately. Hopefully someone with the same wiring as me will have a solution.
