Walls and ceilings in basement are now open.
I am adapting some old built in vacuum cleaner tubes to put wires and strings for pulling wires at a later date.
im figuring cat5e, not sure if cat6 is necessary... thoughts?
a phone wire or 2
2 pulls for cable tv. not sure which kind i should use, i will get the cable company to put the ends on them
and speaker wires, for in ceiling rear speakers.
maybe wire for an alarm sensor or 2,

Cat5E will likely be fine for you. If you are worried, just run cat6. In places you run the wire that's considered an "air return" type space you might want to run plenum rated cable (possibly the attic) incase of fire.
You can run Cat5e/6 for the phone wire as well, don't buy a special different cable for it. Then if you want you can turn those locations into network jacks/wireless AP jacks later.
