I am picking up my new Passat on Friday. My question for everyone is how is the ride quality after installing H&R sport springs? I have seen many pics on here with the car lowered and it looks perfect. I just want to know how the ride is before I take that plunge. I do mostly highway driving so I still want to be comfortable. Any info or feedback would be great. Thanks guys!

I have had them on my car for about 5000 mi, with factory struts & shocks. I also do alot of highway driving, and I have nothing negative to say about ride quality. Still very smooth, sometimes get some excess bounce over uneven roadways at highway speeds. All in all, very pleased.

i have observed the excess bounce in the factory spring / strut combination in certain conditions on the freeway as well. I think this is more of the struts, not the springs.
I have nothing witty to add here

Thanks guys! I put the springs on order.......I will give it a shot. I love the look so hopefully it wont be that bad. Coming from a truck to a Passat any ride has to be better.....lowered or not!

One thing to keep in mind is the life expectancy on the OE shocks/struts might be shorter with the lower springs. The extra drop puts more wear on the internal damping. You may not have any problems, but it's entirely possible.

most struts last about 60k I know the ones on my MkV jetta lasted about that, and that is about average for most cars that get daily driven.

With that said, thats quite a bit of driving. I love my H&Rs with my Koni Oranges on my Jetta, and when I get my passat I will probably go the same route, the drop is enough to fill the gap without looking "slammed"

Frustrated excuse the writing style spent today installing these springs with 95deg outside sun beating me down and results leaving me irritated.

My concern is ride quality I sold my 18's and temp riding on B5.5 16's (its all I had laying around) I noticed a huge difference in ride quality with the H&R's on its a lot stiffer then it was before. It was floaty but plush before (stock are linear springs cause the oscillation) now it feels stiff and tracks the ups and downs of the road rather then riding over them. Remember i'm on 16's now I thought the progressive springs would give best of both worlds and the ride change only slightly stiffer then stock. I think maybe my plans are squashed as I was planning to do 20's in the next 2days and was the point of all this and i'm thinking the ride will be to harsh.

Can anybody comment on H&R springs with 20's?? This is my first time H&R springs only on stock shocks and I'm concerned it will ride to stiff once the 20's are on? I'm turning 36 this month and this was my present to myself I'm looking for an everyday car not track suspension.. I'm concerned the H&R's are significantly stiffer than stock question is am I throwing away a 30k car experience now that I put just springs on? What about once the 20's go on? Should I think about going back to stock springs and just doing 20's? Forum members please chime in with your experiences as I'm seeing quite a few lowered cars with 20's on the forum..

Yea it's diffinatly not the best ride. I feel the same way about mine. On the highway it's fine bumpy back roads you feel every bump in between playing dodge the bump. I often wonder if the coilovers would have been better.

Have you looked into staying on an 18inch wheel? I've got the HR's with an after market 18inch wheel on conti DWS tires and I haven't had any real harshness issues. It seems to me that the springs loosen up a tad bit after a few thousand miles.

*PS- I am a bit sensitive to ride quality since this last car accident left me with ongoing lower back problems. Here's a picture of my Passat with the HR and 18's
