What are the consequences, if any, of not doing this procedure after the battery is disconnected and reconnected?

I take it then from the lack of responses that a throttle body alignment is only of academic interest after a battery disconnect?

I had to disconnect my battery the other day to install a NewSouth Boost Gauge, and other than having to reset the time of day on both the MFD and the RNS-510 Nav unit, have not noticed any issues with the throttle.

On some of the older Drive by Cable engines, then engine will not run until a Throttle Body Alignment is performed. It is good practice to do on any vehicle once power is restored, it gives the ECM a base line reading to work from on the Throttle Body.

The full version of VCDS-Lite can the Throttle Body Alignment.

Thanks for the clarification. My 2012 Tig is at the dealer today for a transmission reflash (hopefully) and a gas mileage issue, we'll see if they even do a throttle body alignment if they think it will have any impact.
