Here is the notorious crank key shear on a PG crank, but I heard it happens to other motors also

I am trying to find that list that shows engine code and crank and rod specs. If you have a link please let me know. I can't find it anymore.

What I am trying to figure out is if there is a rod combination that one can use on an EN crank that could would work for a PG set up.

If I remember correctly the wrist pin size is different on the PG than the EN and I believe the Rod Journals maybe different. I for get. I believe the rods on the G-60 are 136mm, which is the same size as the 1.6 where maybe an Audi rod.

The Idea as you can tell is to use the EN crank in a PG block.

    Found it:

    Tag/Bore/Stroke/Disp/Rod Journal/Rod Length/Wrist Pin/CompHt/Piston Dish/Block Height/CR
    1.7 79.5 86.4 1715 46 136 22 37.5 21 220 8.2:1
    G60 81.0 86.4 1781 48 136 22 39.5 25 220 8:1

It looks like EN crank with EN rods might work. Does anyone think smaller rod journals will be a problem with boost?

I had a crank do the same thing on an ABA. I had a friend add some material with his arc welder and then I shaped it with a file. The notch is really only there for location (I don't think it's meant to carry much load) and the load carrying is actually done by the tension put on the assembly by the bolt and the surfaces of the sprocket and nose of the crank. The last one I did, I put some red loctite on those surfaces before assembly to hopefully help the stick and keep moisture out to prevent any rusting and this a loosening of the mechanical joint.
Tradition is the art of making the same mistake repeatedly, on purpose.

any way to use a D shaped crank sprocket like a TDI uses?

does the PG use a normal width 8v timing belt, or a diesel/16v width belt?

if it uses the WIDE belt, then just broach the crank, and install the TDI sprocket..
