100% crop, even this tiny portion is 1200x1200px

Still early days for me and my D800 - but here's a few I've gotten in between the rainy days.

Quite sharp, and it should be with that much light. I'd be far more interested to see a similar shot in low light, however, to see high ISO performance. I'm curious how well it does. I'm rarely in super sunny conditions when I shoot

    Because Oregon.

Oh...and I would SOOOOOOO buy your strobes if I didn't need a few others things first.

From everything I've seen, The D800 is good at high ISO for that many mp. I'm just really impressed with how well it retains detail and sharpness. Plus it doesn't have really any noise in the shadows at 100 ISO like our Canons are prone to.

Of course I haven't tested it myself, I'm just going on other peoples reviews.

Take it for what it's worth.

I have done some higher ISO tests - and at first I thought they looked aweful. Noisy as hell. That was until I realized that my viewer (Fast Stone Image Viewer - applies no smoothing to jpgs, be warned) have a hard time downscaling 36Mp properly - at 100% the noise profile was alright. Next I tried downscaling to 24, and 16Mp - suddenly the downscaled (to screen) images looked much better.

I haven't tried high ISO in the field - and to be honest, it is very seldom I need to. But this autumn I'm going to redo the annual light-walk - in 2011 I used my D700, so I'm excited to see how that turns out.

    Samples form said event.

My friend and I shoot weddings. I use my D7000 and he just got a D800. It is an amazing body. I figure I'll trade up next year.

The ability to crop down like that is amazing! I love my D800.

I just bought a second hand D700, couldn't justify buying a 800. But everyday I see detail like this and wonder if I made the wrong decision...
"What's that loud, boring sound you'll hear when I stop talking?"
    "It's an albino humping worm!"
"Why do they call it that?"
"Because it doesn't have any pigment."
