The other motor with the "new" 288s look any better?

TT 288's with a Mk4 head gasket.
I found this while swapping the ported head out for a stock head, at the time I was prepping the car for sale and didn't have a camera with me, just noted it and moved on. I'm just getting around to posting some content and pictures as I've seen this come up in conversation in the past. These pictures show just how tight it could be running that combination of lift and head gasket, only the exhaust valves made contact, and none of them were bent. It’s tight, any more than what was shown and the engine could’ve been done in pretty damn good.
It looks like the specs may have changed and I’ve seen conflicting data posted over the years; different lift and duration combinations. So, anyone looking to run this combination I say to do your homework just to play it safe, especially when buying these cams used and cam analysis is not present. These engines aren’t getting any younger and figure this scenario with loose motor, rod stretch, decked block, or even stainless valves; any one of those could result in damage way more extensive and forgiving than we’re seeing here.

Why is it only on 1 relief..and 1 piston?
Did you just come across this during an engine tear down for some other reason?
