Thread: V1 mounting options ?

So blendmount doesn't make a mount that will work with the B7 mirror. However I found this one for BMW's. Any thoughts on whether it would work?

I would not want it hanging down so low, blocking the driver's view. On both our 2011 E350 and 2012 Passat TDI SEL I have hard-wired V1s but still use suction cups high on the windshield to the right of the mirror without issue. I do, however, use the larger of the two sizes suction cups available from V1.

There is no reason to hang it off the mirror like that. In my WRX & GLI I ran a hard wire from the fusebox right up along the pillar to the headliner and then over to the mirror and down the mirror where you can suction cup it above, to the side or below as per your preference.

I always suction cupped mine tight below the mirror. Very clean this way.. you only see a few inches of cable from the headliner to the mirror and you can keep it very straight and taught so it looks very clean.

Personal preference really. You can do the suction cup or the mirror option. I have used suction cups near the top of the headliner before. My issue with that is it limits your use of the visor or the passenger's visor, so I never had my sunvisor down. Using the mirror, it's still out of the way and imo not obtrusive.

It can be suction cupped directly below the mirror to sit in the exact same spot as yours is hanging and not obstruct anything. Actually, it can be suctioned cupped much tighter to be almost flush below the mirror bottom. The only difference is you don't have that huge extra thing hanging there.

As you mentioned though.. personal preference. My preference would be to not have that big extra contraption there or the extra expense it adds.

You can actually mounted right above the mirror.

Try not to block the laser receiver with the mesh on the windshield.
